-- Writer's In the Sky --
I am thrilled to announce the discussion that aired today with Yvonne Perry host of the Writer's in the Sky Podcast and owner of Writer's in the Sky Services. Yvonne's podcast is a weekly talk show with the latest writing, publishing and book marketing news, methods and techniques. Today, Yvonne and I discuss how a marketing plan is developed, including building a platform and growing name recognition from there, which will then lead to sales. We talked about how to get reviews, what types of reviews and reviewers one can consider and how to query reviewers. We also talked about building a strong list of key words and the importance of a media-friendly website.
Listening to Writers in the Sky Podcast on a computer is easy. Just click this link: http://yvonneperry.blogspot.com - on the right sidebar there is a list of archived shows.

Today's featured guest on Authors Read radio was the charismatic Jane Stanfield, owner of the Where Is She Heading Co. & author of a non-fiction self-help travel book: Mapping Your Volunteer Vacation. Her traveling experiences are wide ranging including six continents, 11 countries & 12 volunteer placements. Jane says “Whether for a few weeks or several months, anyone who believes in service volunteering, has a passport and wants to see what is over the next hill will have the time of their life! It’s fun, it makes a difference, and it brings the world into perspective.” To access today's show where Jane reads an informative excerpt from her book, simply click on the hyperlinked show title here or look to the right to find links to the Authors Read radio program.
-- Sharing With Authors & Reader's Blog Contest!! --
The above URL will take you to a blog post that announces a fun contest for an e-book: Towards Understanding, Revised Edition - a collection of 125 non-fiction poems written in chronological order. It is a true story of a young pre-teen female growing up on her own, struggling to survive, breaking the chains of inner demons & finally growing towards understanding of her value & purpose in life – but not quite reaching it. Thus the title… Towards Understanding. The original version of this book (with 120 poems) is still available in paperback & hardcover format through most online & retail bookstores *(see links on the upper right of this blog for purchasing options). This new revised edition offers 5 new poems, creating an ending that I am more comfortable with, and updated author information. The e-book was released in late-July 2009 by Booklocker.com Inc. Details on both editions and book excerpts can be found at: www.brummet.ca/towards.html
The Sharing with Authors & Readers contest's deadline is: Sept 30 - so get your entries in soon!
