Recycling

-- Quote of the Day --  --> “…It can be difficult to fathom the millions of bags that are out there and bringing it down to the personal level – but for me when I go grocery shopping it is 10-12 bags each time. So if I went shopping twice a week that is more than 20 bags - if you multiply it exponentially you can see how big the issue is. And it is not just the plastic making garbage, it is the process of making the bags that is so harmful to the environment, the plastic in our oceans, the oil required to make plastic. …The great thing about recycled products (bags) is that they are really durable. For instance the seat belt bag – these are seat belts that, because of strict safety laws, would have ended up in the landfill – but there were creative people out there who decided to make bags out of them. We have a bag made of recycled plastic bottles that can be thrown in the washing machine. The mosquito-netting bag can be wiped down. Even the magazine

World of Writing

-- Quote of the Day -- “…Grandfather Little Hawk is  a Mikmaw storyteller – they are the Natives of Nova Scotia Indian storytellers, and he follows the storytelling techniques passed down for literally 8,000 years. …His storytelling was so beautiful, so we started a program on storytelling… and we expanded on that to put it into a book. He did the telling, I did the writing. ...I love the process of writing and I tend to give myself a goal of writing 5000 words before I go to bed each night. I often take long walks dictating in a tape or writing in a note pad. The first writing of the book took maybe a month, and the editing of the book took almost a year – so you have all these words that you through them against a wall to see what sticks. …I read it now and I think ‘Wow, those are my words – but are they? They are Little Hawk’s words – but are they?’  It was a great process and I love writing.” ~ Frank Cipriani Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussi

Life and Love

-- Quote of the Day --  “… When I think of ‘love’ I think of the life force for good. Its not just compassion it is also strength, it is not just acceptance and tolerance it is also accountability and responsibility; it is patient, but it is also perseverance and diligent and it is honest. …Whenever we find our sense of worth by something tangible or another human being, we’re on shaky ground because that can be taken away from us. Only what is inside can never be taken away. When we are aligned with love, then we have that no matter the loss.   …Love is always guided by knowledge, and knowledge breeds understanding. …When we choose to align with love we are naturally in harmony with ourselves, but also with others and with nature .” ~ Jan Denise Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode titled: A Sanctuary At Home   (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Referral Corner -- It is time to shar

Forests & Living Consciously

-- Conscious Living Event -- This week we are celebrating National Forest Week -  this awareness holiday started in 1920 as Forest Fire Prevention and evolved into what we see today.   According to CanadianForestry.com : " During National Forest Week, Canadians are invited to learn more about Canada's forest heritage and to raise awareness about this valuable and renewable resource. We now know that forests are fundamental to our economy, culture, traditions and history - and to our future. Communities, families and individuals depend on forests for their livelihood and way of life ." So take some time today, or sometime this week, to enjoy the green space in your area. Take a walk in the park or in the forest, clean up litter while you enjoy the area - especially plastics (which harm wildlife) and glass (even small pieces of broken glass can harm humans, animals, and cause wildfires). Perhaps you can get together with an organization, group or your family t

Remember & Learn From Your Dreams

“Dreams are the royal road to the psyche.”      ~ Sigmund Freud How Can I Remember my Dreams ... and Why Should I ? * Today's article was sent our way from Dian e Jaquet who works with BardoCoaching.com   - and was written by Steven Tokeshi is a Certified Life Coach and Career Coach with Bardo Life Coaching . Based in San Diego, Steve helps people clarify their personal and career goals , and to motivate them to actively pursue them through coaching and mentoring. According to dream researcher, G. William Domhoff, dreams have no physiological or psychological functions- despite the claims of past psychotherapists such as Freud and Carl Jung.  Yet we humans have found- and continue to find- endless fascination and use for them.  Lack of function, however, does not mean lack of meaning. "Meaning has to do with coherence and with systematic relations to other variables, and in that regard dreams do have meaning,” states Domhoff.  Aft

First Day of Autumn

Today is officially the first day of autumn - so Fall is now in our midst.  There's been a lot of events around peace and sustainability this week, so I thought we should start today's post with the following quote: -- Quote of the Day --   “ Each country can achieve abundance without sacrificing the abundance of other nations. Each ethnic group can achieve abundance without taking from others. … People of all faith can live a good life if they are willing to wish the same on their brethren of other faith. Belief (in the guiding principle of abundance) forces cooperation – for one to succeed, all must succeed. …If there is enough for all then the world that we can have is one where we cheer for other people, we believe there is enough for all… and then there is no reason for war because we are all collaborating. ” ~ Jackie Lapin   Today’s quote originates from the ConsciousDiscussions Talk Radio episode titled: Best of CD#26   (*Click
