Quote of the Day  "Don't underestimate the value of doing nothing, of just going along,  listening to all the things you can't hear,  and not bothering."  ~ Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A.A. Save money, be healthier, reduce negative impact

-- What We Eat & Drink -- We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with perhaps a few snacks in between and several drinks throughout the day. Each time we put something in our mouth we have the opportunity to vote on the direction we want to see society take in the future: - Looking at how the food was grown – whether it was done sustainably, fairly, ethically, and environmentally sound. - We can learn more about the products by reading the labels and visiting the websites… choosing producers have more of a positive impact on the environment, that ship the product fewer miles, those that support causes we believe in, and those that use green energy. - We can simply choose to make meals based not only on what is on sale, but what is in season locally, produced locally… and save a great deal of money. - We can choose to eat less meat; simply put less meat on the plate, or less meat than recipes call for. - Take a look at how much packaging is associated wit

This means that with every purchase we individuals, those who work in businesses and households, we consider what kind of impact it has. We need to start asking ourselves as each penny is released from our accounts – “Will this purchase encourage a more sustainable, and socially responsible society?” For instance we might look at a product and notice that some of the competitors on the shelf have recycled content in the manufacturing process. Perhaps the packaging is not only recyclable, but is reusable… or possibly also made with recycled materials. Perhaps people in third world conditions made the product; people who are treated and paid fairly.   Are the materials we are consuming renewable (like bamboo)? Are the companies we are working with also taking steps that reflect our desi

Quote of the day

Quote of the Day   “Everyone says love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt.” ~ Liam Neeson  Award-winning authors Dave & Lillian Brummet: Visit us on:  Twitter FaceBook LinkedIn Google http://BrummetMedia.ca (new site, under maintenance)
