Wildlife photo contest!

Wildlife Photo Contest

It’s a momentous day! National Wildlife magazine is honored to announce the opening of its 47th annual photo contest—and we’d love you to be a part of it.

This contest is unique in that it celebrates wildlife, landscapes and the natural world with an eye on conservation. Every entry helps support the conservation work of the National Wildlife Federation—and helps inspire our millions of members and supporters to care and to act.

The editors and judges would love to see some of your work—whether birds, bees or mammals, backyard blooms or exotic horizons. You can enter in any of seven categories, and the winners will receive cash prizes—including a grand prize of $5,000—and publication in print or online, giving your work broad exposure.

They judge every entry blind, so we welcome everyone from avid amateurs to lifelong professionals to submit their images. Who knows—yours may be the one that wins.
REGISTER TODAY! »

CONTEST ENTRY PERIOD: The NWPC opens at 12:01 am North American Eastern Standard Time (EST) on January 8, 2018 and the final date for submitting photos is March 16, 2018, at 11:59 pm North American Eastern Daylight Time. To avoid uploading delays, do not wait until the final days of the contest to enter. In past years, the large number of entrants trying to upload their photos just prior to the final deadline caused technical problems that left them unable to enter. Mailed or shipped entries must be postmarked no later than March 16, 2018. Receipt of packages cannot be acknowledged and packages will not be returned. NWF anticipates notifying winners by early October 2018.  NWPC may modify the contest entry period at its sole discretion.

Recommended Resources

Recommended Resources

Today's recommended resources fall in the genre of youth.

- The first resource today will lead you to a fantastic youth-writing non-profit organization. 826 National Org. helps young people become creative and confident writers, helps teachers become better inspirational agents for positive change, and helps communities work together as a team in support of local youth. Visit: https://826national.org/

- This next resource will lead you to an inspirational story, told by two sisters inspired at 10 and 12 years old to change their country’s policy on plastic bags. Great story that should inspire other youth to realize their power, their potential.

And to close out today's post - here's a great example of how one person can have such a huge impact,  inspiring others to get involved in her cause and several years later they have had amazing success in making the world just a little better.

Quote of the Day

"Let now the chimneys blaze

And cups o'erflow with wine;

Let well-tuned words amaze

With harmony divine...."

Announcement

Announcement

We are now accepting drum students and family or group hand drum workshops and drum studio tours (especially popular with home schoolers).

Now available - Gift Certificates!  Know someone with a damaged ornamental drum or instrument? Want to help a drummer or percussionist get the best out of their instrument with a thorough servicing? Know someone who would love to see what professional instruments look and feel like? Want to bond with the youth in your lives, increase family bonds, or find something for visitors to do? Perhaps you know someone interested in improving their skills as a drummer.
Gift Certificates are a great way to reduce waste associated with traditional gift giving (packaging, wrapping materials, etc.) and are always well received. Our gift certificates are flexible - you decide how much you are willing to give ($10, or $50, or whatever you choose). The gift certificates are also flexible - people can use them for most of the Angle Hill Studio services, and we can talk about customizing whatever they need.
