Journey to Health, part 2

-- Journey to Health, part 2 --  Remember that your activities, your job, the things you are tasked with are not you; they do not define you, they are what you do, not who you are.  Yoga and meditation can help us realize that your mind, your brain, is different from you, the spirit. Visualize the brain as a machine and yourself as the operator of the machine. Realizing this increases awareness that a lot of our life is habit, habitual reactions – and the operator has the opportunity to reprogram the machine to operate in a more desirable fashion. Taking the time for looking after yourself – improving diet, getting exercise that suites your and excites you so you keep going, getting lots of sleep, taking supplements, eating right. These positive habits may take a while to become a natural part of your life, and you may have to try a lot of different things to see what works for you, you may be really into something and move onto something else for a few year...

Journey to health, 1

-- Chatter -- As you know I've been on this personal journey the last half-dozen years or so and found myself going back to the basics. In keeping with my personal journey I thought it would be an opportunity to share my experiences while going back to those basics with a series of posts... starting today. If you refer to a couple posts ago you'll see a very brief overview of the events we've encountered, and how that led to a road of getting "lost in the darkness". There is a song lyric from the band Rush that goes something like: " All of us get lost in the Darkness. Turn around, turn around and turn around... turn around and walk the razor's edge, turn around but don't slam the door on me ." For me, the word "darkness" is a perfect analogy for those challenging times in life where you feel a bit lost, vulnerable, ill at ease and how this affects those around us. Similarly, another song that was once released through a b...

-- Chatter --  Well, it has been a while since I've been in the office and things are settling down around here enough for me to show my face and peek in at my wonderful contacts :) I have enjoyed, however, being on Facebook regularly, keeping in touch with many of you there. I expect to be gradually increasing office activities in a couple weeks if all goes well. Thank you for your patience in this matter and all your loving support and messages. -- Recommended Resources --  http://DonorsChoose.org This is a US-based charity organization... which I think should expand to include Canada and perhaps other nations as well. In fact if there are similar organizations I'd love to hear about them so I can share them here. ...so let me know about them, ok? So what is special about this one? Well, what I like about it is that it was actually started by one individual with the idea of empowering public school teachers to get the materials they need to provide enr...

Thank you!!

-- Chatter --  Well, obviously I have taken some time away from the computer. I hurt my hand and couldn't even type properly - so didn't bother. It is healing but is awfully painful sometimes.  What happened? Well, I've been doing a lot of yoga, spring cleaning and garden chores and noticed my hands were getting awfully sore, almost strained feeling. So I began soaking in hot water, massaging them and using hot packs to ease the discomfort. But I really did it in when I did something small and seemingly insignificant... I buy our organic shampoo/conditioner in bulk bottles, refilling the smaller ones for the shower and because it is so concentrated I add an eighth cup or so of pure water (from our water purifier machine) and shake it up to mix. It was the shaking up to mix thing that did it. Felt it snap actually, something in the hand actually felt like it snapped. So weeks later... I'm finally able to do cleaning (carefully) and typing (gingerly). ugh.  I...

Social Enterprise; Generation-Y

Social Entrepreneurs  * by Michael J Walker, who invites you to  oin The Next Generation In Professional Social Networking on  http://www.SalaryShark.com ! Social entrepreneurship is more than a recent trend spurred by the emergence of the Millennial generation into the business world. It represents a shift toward accountable business practices and creating sustainable change in the world.  These new entrepreneurs aim to create a career for themselves that is both fiscally sound and has meaning in a wider global context. There are distinct differences between these social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs behind the age of digital sharing. Both groups are interested in changing the world through innovation. However, those interested in social enterprise are more interested in using innovation to impact the systems that make inequality and poverty a reality for too many people. What many of these socially-minded businesses have in common is a desire...
