Writing, Social Networking & Nature

-- Quote of the Day --

I had the chance to read David Thoreau's book - Walden or Walden's Pond (I think it was published under a few other titles as well) and came across this quote I'm sharing below where he shares his passion for nature. I found his writing style so very poetic, so descriptive, and jealously devoured every chapter of his book. I'd not had the chance to experience his writing before and while sometimes difficult to read, it was a sincere pleasure to say the least.

“Sometimes I rambled to pine groves, standing like temples or like fleets at see, full-rigged, with wavy boughs and rippling with light – so soft and green and shady, that the Druids would have forsaken their oaks to worship in them; or to the cedar wood… where the trees, covered with hoary blueberries, spiring higher and higher are fit to stand before Valhalla, and the creeping juniper covers the ground with wreaths full of fruit, or to swamps where the usnea lichen hangs in festoons from the white spruce trees, and toad-stools round tables of the swamp gods cover the ground… make the beholder forget his home and he is dazzled and tempted by wild forbidden fruits, too fair for mortal taste.”
~ David Thoreau, Walden
