Writing Influences... or kinda influences?

My Writing Influences Today's article was written by   Elise Smith. of :  https://www.mynzdreamblog.com I was asked recently, “ who has influenced my writing? ”  I do have favourite authors such as Wilber Smith, Bryce Courtney, many true stories and dozens of poets that I adore, but I cannot say these people are the biggest influence on my writing . I like these authors because they bring back nostalgia of my mother telling me stories about growing up in South Africa.   I like true stories as it reminds me I am not alone on this journey of life and I am drawn to poetry for release and comfort. What influences my writing are real life experiences, my own and others who have come through similar.   Writing about my life and sharing it with the world in hopes of inspiring and encouraging others has helped me immensely on my healing journey.   Writing my stories was like diving into the dark abyss, turning on-the-spot light, grabbing my demons around the throat, and diminishing any pow

Blogger Interview

Blogger Interview Today we are featuring our online friend Marisa Bradley who tells us with a grin on her face, "I was born with a book in my hand, and you'll never find me without one." Her blog was already in process when her husband noticed that her new initials spelled out Mcfly . Sorry, no connection to the movies. She lives in Oxnard CA, (USA) with their cat Patches . Visit her on FaceBook or drop by the McFly's Book Bliss Blog ( http://McflysBookBliss.com ) Q: When did you get the idea to launch your very own blog? A: Back in 2017 I was encouraged by multiple friends to create a book blog. I loved the idea and immediately ran with it. It turned out that I jumped in too quickly and ended up stoping this first blog after only a year. Then in early 2020 I decided to try again, this time I would take my time, go slow and make sure I was prepared. So, Mcfly's Book Bliss went live in December 2020. Q:  It sounds like you learned a lot from your first blogging

Choosing A Meaningful Career

Choosing A Meaningful Career There was a time when we struggled to find the energy to go to work, aching for the moment the clock struck and work was done. Today, the biggest issue we have is learning to say "no" and to step back to recharge our own batteries, refill our bucket.  What changed? We changed our focus. Today, the focus of everything that we do is to empower others in becoming more proactive and helping them leave a lasting, positive legacy with every passing moment. To help them realize that with each new breath we are presented with an opportunity to make a difference. It might sound flighty or fanciful but we have indeed heard from those we have influenced and this is the inspiration for all our hard work. To have helped people commit to recycling programs, donate useful items around the community, reduce costs by finding ways of repurposing or reusing “trash”, and to conserve both water and energy - lights our path and keeps us striving every day.  We have sho

Poetry Time

Poetry  Time Today I want to share with you an unpublished poem... in that it is not included in our 2 poetry books . It speaks of the purpose of life, the epic journey of life - the study of gurus and shamans, thought leaders and therapists - the search for meaning.  To Dance As One © Lillian Brummet Dec. 2017 ... In memory of those who’ve passed before.  No longer chained and weighed  By loss, by grief, by stress… By uncertainty. My wings unfurl a little more. A changed heart, Once yearned for awareness…. Then, regretted that awareness.   Driven to inspire change, Then, inspired by those Creating change. Settled in this home, This lush valley, This good life… And as projects slow down  I question: What will the future years hold? More work yet to be done… …Beyond that… I yearn to walk consciously.
