Book Review !!

A huge hug goes out to Kiki W who posted a review for one of our poetry books, Towards Understanding, over at Amazon.ca (Canada) where she gave the book a 5 out of 5 star rating !    "When I was a kid and we had to read or write poetry in school, it did not resonate with me. Later as a secretively moody teen, I would write sappy or pretentious poetry to try to express my adolescent thoughts and feelings.  It takes great bravery to bare one’s soul to the general public.  When I came across Lillian’s book, at first I didn’t quite get the title, but once I started reading, I could see how any artistic expression, be it poetry or prose or music or drawing or painting, can be a great tool for self therapy for meditating on and sorting out one’s thoughts and feelings.  ... just like in class when the teacher encourages shy students to voice their questions, because other students likely have the same question, this kind of very personal writing could also help other young people who lik

A Little YouTube

..."You know you do"... lol  Authority Magazine once asked:  "Can you share the most interesting story that occurred to you in the course of your career? " We had some great responses from that discussion and so I thought it would be nice to do a video looking back at the vast changes that the world of writing was undergone since 1999. https://youtu.be/vleyUsFniH8 ~~~     Follow & Find Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

Recommended Resources

The  Recommended Resources  series has been published on this blog since we transferred it from the  Brummet's Muse  biweekly newsletter that ran for 6 years or so. When we closed it down, we decided that sharing resources was just too awesome not to continue. With this series, Dave and I have the pleasure of sharing some great resources which can include - positive impact organizations and events, citizen science projects and links to helpful articles.  Feel free to check out their websites, and perhaps send them a note of appreciation for what they do. It would, of course, be fantastic if you see a way to network with them or get involved some how, or possibly share their information with your networks.  Peace Area Riding For The Disabled Society uses equine therapy to help people feel physically healthy and mentally calm. www.pards.ca   People's Animal Welfare Society is a volunteer run organization that assists animals in need, providing a free-roam shelter where homeless

book review

The Flying Scotsman Sings - book review Two lovers who share a passion for music, but with differing schedules, travelling and careers - will their love survive? It has been quite a while since I have written a book review article. There was a time when I was paid to write reviews and was assigned 300-600 books per year to analyze and review - sometimes write articles, sometimes writing blurbs, sometimes giving reader feedback. Back then I was reading so much that I ended up burning out after 5-6 years. I took a very long break, did a few reviews and took a very long break again. I no longer accept book review queries, however I'm happy to share this book review with our readers today... Upon first impression I had a strong feeling that I was about to delve into a fantastic read. As a writer, I was impressed at the enviable writing skills displayed in the first two pages where the author eloquently set the scene, described the era and introduced the main character. Here, the autho

Book Review !

A huge hug goes out to " ForeverJZ " who posted a review for our cookbook,  From One Small Garden - Over 300 Delicious, Nutritious Recipes .    4.0 out of 5 stars  The review titled Create Tasty Food Using Simple Ingredients  was posted on  Amazon.ca  just recently ( October 14, 2023 ) " I enjoyed the simplicity of the recipes resulting in very tasty and nutritious dishes. You don't really need to be a gardener (I'm not) to make good use of this cook book as there is always a selection of recipes that work with what I have in my fridge and cupboards.  The recipes offer suggestions for variations, which accommodates individual taste preferences. The internet has made finding recipes easy, so I stopped using many of my cookbooks. From One Small Garden is a cook book I will continue to enjoy using.
