You never know where networking can lead. I reached out to  Paullette Francoeur   in September, after seeing her FaceBook post celebrating her new venture: The Kootenay Author Mobile Book Store .  How exciting to find that she was just as enthusiastic about networking, and after a single meeting we felt like fast friends. It turns out she spent her childhood in Creston and her family home was just a few blocks from our house. Paullette recently returned to the area with her family in tow. She has a great entrepreneurial spirit and I'm sure her new venture will be successful.  I am proud to announce that she will now showcasing 6 of our books in this mobile store. Today we are joined by Martin Hahn who grew up in South-East Asia and moved to Europe where he delved into the fields of scientific research,  in organizational and industrial sociology,   radio journalism, and management consulting for the next 12 years. Funding awarded to conserve 6,300 acres of working forest in Trout Lake, Washington We are excited to share the success of a funding application we submitted in partnership with The Conservation Fund, the Washington Department of Natural Resources, and Green Diamond Resource Company.     The $8,250,000 award will enable the future conservation of 6,378 acres of forestland outside Trout Lake, Washington, through the federal Forest Legacy Program.    The project will help support a thriving forestry workforce in south central Washington, underpinning hundreds of jobs. Whether you have published one book, sold a few pieces of art, run a blog, teach others, offer creative crafts, or write articles… whatever you do as a self-employed person it is vital to run this as a real business. You have to learn how to schedule activities and stick to the schedule, while being somewhat flexible too. Querying and marketing, record keeping, managing the blog, bookkeeping and tax prep, shopping for supplies and cleaning will all need to be added to the schedule. Communications too can eat a surprising amount of time. Loyal readers are already aware that doing interviews has become part of my DNA. This is the fourth and final installment in this particular series of articles.  Earlier in August I was inspired to create a 4 part article series offering thought-provoking steps to developing your business and creating an effective marketing plan. This series is, in fact, based on the first section of the Purple Snowflake Marketing book of ours - I'll share more info about the book at the end of this piece.  Today I'll be sharing a few more homework assignments for you to continue this journey.  Extra Homework Assignment #1: Schedule a one-hour session per week and use that time to begin scrolling through the Brummet's Conscious Blog archives to find interviews with entrepreneurs, marketing experts, authors, poets, bloggers, podcast hosts, publishers, agents ...and many others.
