halloween - a great time to give back !!

Halloween !!! If your children go out trick-or-treating this holiday season, please consider stopping in at the senior support centres, senior homes and care centres.  Nurses,  staff and residents absolutely love the uplifting experience and are often prepared to hand out treats. Call first, just to make sure it is an appropriate setting and maybe bring something along with you as a gift to the people there... some flowers, a fruit basket, hand-made cards, bookmarks, a stack of puzzle magazines, etc.  It really brightens resident's life to see all the cute costumes and to interact with the family. Go there with patience in mind, don't rush around and make sure the kids are prepared to be very respectful and quiet too.  This would also be a great activity for teen groups to participate in. * Handing out little gifts to the residents is a great way to encourage social responsibility and charity for youth... these little acts can create a life-time habit of giving ba

Quote of the Day

Quote of the Day © BrummetMedia.ca "If Ibsen’s ‘Enemy of the People’ were alive today,  he would recognize the ethic  that has informed capitalist and communist countries alike:  economic growth before public health and well-being.  The true enemies of the people are those who continue to sacrifice our long-term interests  for short-term gains.  ...But perhaps we should all look in the mirror."  ~ Susanna York ~~ Visit the Brummet's @:  http://BrummetMedia.ca ~~
