camping foods

I had some amazing food products sent to me for evaluation from eFoodsDirect … We waited until we went camping in our little RV trailer to test the foods, since one of the recommended applications is for outdoor activities like camping and hiking. The first meal I tried was the Tortilla Soup, and before it was half cooked I hear “That smells good”, and turned to see hubby Dave poking his head into the camper while I was cooking it for our lunch. We both found the meal to present a lovely Mexican flavored thick soup with very healthy ingredients including sea salt (my personal preference) although it was a bit salty for me. However Dave felt that was probably a good thing for outdoor activities after perspiring when one is typically prone to reach for the saltshaker. I was using a thin copper camping pot and found that it did scorch a bit on the bottom of the pan, as the instructions did say to boil for 12-15 min – however I feel a slight simmer would have b

Green Construction

--  Green Construction -- Going Green - Construction, Which the Environment Loves! *Today's article was written by Ali Bhutta - of AB Contractors NY, a leading General Contractors firm in New York City, New York is an expert on all related market trends and can help you with every step of your construction project. Sustainable building, green building, green construction or simply "going green" is a concept about eco-friendly construction. It involves the application of practices and technologies that are environmental friendly, right from the construction, to occupancy, maintenance, renovation and finally demolition. This concept first started rising in the '70s when concerns regarding harmful impacts of construction industry on environment, and its resources, started growing. Although no international agreement is available regarding carbon reduction and eco-friendly construction, there are organizations present that ar

Plastic Bags and Alternatives

Data taken from the International Bottom Trawl Survey and the Clean Seas Environmental Monitoring Programme by CEFAS indicates that plastic bags makes up around 40% of all the marine litter evaluated at stations across UK waters and the North Sea. In the Bay of Biscay most of the waste items found on the seabed were plastic (92%) and of those 94% were plastic bags (OSPAR, 2009). In this respect over 30 NGOs are making a final call to EU Environment ministers ahead of the July 15 deadline for setting marine litter targets, as required under EU law. -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show -- Sign up via itunes for the Conscious Discussions Radio show: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id262138144      Today's show will focus on Plastic Bags and eco-bag alternatives.   Stefanie Kushner   is joining us today to share how her passion for environmentally friendly bags inspired the creation of the Bag Inspiration bu

Bio Fuel & Business

-- Quote of the Day -- “Leadership depends on the people who report to you – the majority of the people who report to don’t enjoy their job. …75% of workers today fall into two categories: 1) being not engaged at work – and 2) actively not engaged at work. The people in the first category can be identified as clock-watchers. The other group is actively destructive at work; costing 3 billion dollars of lost revenue in the US. …25% of the people like their job, they are excited and creative at work – they have the opportunity to utilize what they love at work. …You have to care about the employee. …95% of happy executives will take a call from a recruiter today, 90% of those executives will leave their your organization in 30 days for an opportunity to contribute more. So you have to provide an environment …that will give them the opportunity to do what they love to do.” ~ Derrick Miles Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Ra

A Sanctuary at Home

-- Quote of the Day -- “If we tell our stories with intensity and focus…  we’ll break the spells that bind us.  We’ll start to want that other world  we say is possible with such intensity  that nothing can stop us or deny us.  All it takes is our willingness to act from vision,  not from fear, to risk hoping, to dare to act for what we love ”  ~  Starhawk – Webs of Power: Notes from the Global Uprising -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio -- Sign up via itunes for the Conscious Discussions Radio show: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id262138144    Jan Denise is here to share her passion for defining true love, and for creating a sanctuary at home. Packaging, & the Arts

-- Quote of the Day --  “…There are two types of artists – the ones that are just going to have fun and want to show their stuff to the world, and the ones who are going to have to live off of their productions.  …There are people who are going to like it, and there will be people who hate it; But you can’t let those people intimidate you. You can’t work around other people and what their thoughts are. …One of the biggest problems with artists is they let people dictate their art. …You have to get out there and communicate with people. One of the main reasons they will buy your stuff is because they had that connection to you – and by talking about your piece you might be able to open their eyes to something they didn’t see. …You have to have a good marketing strategy.  …You do want to make sure that wherever you are going to show your stuff that you know the demographics of the area …you have to tailor your work around area’s financial demographics.” ~ Jason Dowd

Preserving Food via Canning

-- Preserving Food -- Today's article was submitted to us via Stacy of Extra Space Storage on behalf of the author: Tim Eyre works with customers on behalf of   http://www.extraspace.com , helping them with their self storage needs. Tim also write on self storage, recycling, energy conservation and other topics at http://blog.extraspace.com Can Do Attitude What You Can and Can't Do When Canning Canning may be a fairly simple process, but it does have its pitfalls. Especially when we're first learning to can, it can be heartbreaking to find a lid unsealed after processing, or a green bean going black or moldy after a few weeks in the jar. Fortunately, we can not only learn from our mistakes, but we can also lean on the advice of other canning masters in order to avoid future "jams" in the process. Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn from several great canners and while I still worry a little over each batch,
