Created A Comfortable, Productive Workspace

How I Created A Comfortable, Productive Workspace *Today's article was written by Elise Smith; she is a regular guest on this blog, with her articles published near the end of each month. Elise writes under the pen name: Sheila. "I", she explains. "My passion is creative writing. I’ve been writing for 24 years in fiction and poetry. I have written and published two autobiographies in my book series "The New Zealand Dream,” by Sheila, my pen name. In between projects, I do freelance writing, content, and article and coaching." Find her at:  https://www.mynzdreamblog.com At My NZ Dream  I can work from home always, not just during a pandemic.   Unlike the fancy home offices I have seen, I can be found on the couch with my laptop most of the time.   I travel so my home office setup needs to be as compact as possible which usually means just having my laptop and charger so I can always be ready to go. Items I use for creating a comfortable and productive worksp

Blogger Interview

Blogger Interview  What a pleasure it is to feature a discussion with fellow blogger Thomas Page.  Thomas is the head editor of the Academy of the Heart and Mind . He is an MFA candidate studying poetry at the University of South Florida . He is also branching out to children’s, literary, and horror fiction in his work. I look forward to featuring Thomas's poetry in the future - if he'll let us - and perhaps discussing the world of writing from an poet/author's perspective too. For now, however, let's learn more about what it takes to run  Academy of the Heart and Mind . Visit Thomas @: https://academyoftheheartandmind.wordpress.com -&- @  Twitter: https://twitter.com/thomaspagepoet Q: When did you get the idea to launch your own blog? (or begin working for the blog owners) A: Academy of the Heart and Mind was co-founded by John and Jessica Page in May 2017. Since John is my brother, he approached me in the same month about working with them. Their primary idea wa

Green Families

Green Families  The Internet is a wonderful place and a powerful tool for today's society to teach children about the environment. There is no doubt that early influences can spark a lifetime of concern and participation throughout that person's life.  In today's schools and youth organizations, there are programs dealing with recycling, environmental health, litter awareness, gardening and ecology. Participating at home is possible too through  Social Science and Citizen Science projects that are offered through non-profits and educational institutions. For instance one program has volunteers going outside and counting how many of one species there are on a given day in a specific location. This information is valuable to ensuring their data is accurate.  There are plenty of other things we can do at home that can have an impact on our community - simply by looking at our "waste" as a resource.  Art classes make use of all kinds of materials that were formally

poetry time

Poetry Time Today we have the honour of featuring a Canadian poet (based in the Boundary Region of BC) - Dennis Thome.  Initially I was a little confused as I could not find his Amazon Central page, however Dennis explained " my poetry and short story books are on Amazon under ' Denn Thome '  ." And of course as soon as I did a search on the individual book titles, I was able to find most of them that way.  Those titles include: Tales of Canadian Rurality (short stories with a local twist), Kodah of the Bear People,   The Journey of Hannah Sunrise (fantasy) and   Other F Words (poetry).  Interestingly because Dave and I once lived in the same region of BC, we have some mutual connections including the Grand Forks Writer's Guild . Dennis is a part of the  Writing Out Loud group in the Boundary, who recently limited published an anthology based on The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost.  Untitled: You said you would be right back Last time I saw you at all Waited I d

A Little Youtube

A Little Youtube Have you visited the Brummet Media YouTube Channel ?  Here is a video we produced recently: Prioritizing - Agonizing, But Necessary Entrepreneurs often struggle with the act of prioritizing.  It can be an emotional experience - setting aside something you are involved in or keyed up about, only to take on something new because it has taken precedence. Deadlines, opportunities, schedule delays all play a role in this difficult aspect of running a business.  Drop in this 8 min video https://youtu.be/xb6NM2oWbuo ~~ Visit the Brummet's   Main Website Find them elsewhere online  HERE   ~~

quote of the day

Quote of the Day  ©BrummetMedia.ca Nature inspires my everything  — my being, my solitude,   my writing and my art, my whole life.  She lifts me upon her welcoming wings  and soars me through the sky of possibilities.  She colors my day, brightens my soul,  and calms my nights.  She is fierce and beautiful, strong and delicate  — an untiring Queen so generous of advice  and never weary of new beginnings.  In spring a colorful maiden,  in winter a wise old lady,  in autumn a looking-glass to my falling-leaf self,  and summer a warm blossomed benefactor,  comrade to the sun.  A constant companion  — sometimes indifferent or harsh  but oft nuzzling me with genial breezes,  sharing a vast serenity,  or lavishing vital gifts.  To close my windows  and shut her out  would be error  and melancholy.  ~ Terri Guillemets ~~ Visit the Brummet's   Main Website Find them elsewhere online  HERE   ~~

Media Appearance

Media Appearance Oliver Rodwell manages The Story Behind The Story blog where he features a variety of authors with links to their book page on Amazon at the bottom of each discussion, via clicking the book image.  For our interview he chose one of my favorite book covers - for Rhythm & Rhyme - which features one of our local mountain lakes.  I first connected with Olly via a FaceBook group for authors, and he invited us to appear on his blog for an interview! I liked how he condensed the interview, using excerpts as quotes to break up the interview. I expecially liked:  "I guess if you don't listen, the universe makes stronger and stronger hints until you do." Take a few extra coffee breaks (or wine) while browsing the various topics covered over the last week or two. Gather
