Poetry

-- Quote of the Day --  “You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind – not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement but you can do it gradually day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.”      ~ William Holler   -- Poetry --  It has been a while since I have shared some of my published poetry... here is some samples taken from my 1st book of poetry: Towards Understanding   IN OUR MIDST How can we justify this life? With every breath that we take Can we influence this hard world Is there power in the hands Of This boy or this girl There are heroes in our midst And you know that they exist They exist in you and I We are the heroes in our midst How can we waste away this life? When every breath

Eco-Conscious

-- Quote of the Day -- “There are lots of things we can do at home helps reduce pollution in the ocean – paints, auto oil, polishes, cleaning products – start to use the non-toxic stuff.     Dispose of your trash in the proper manner, do the recycling, don’t flush sanitary products and diapers down the toilet where they end up in the water and on the beaches.   Don’t throw litter; pick up litter even in the city because the litter will end up in the sewer which ends up in the ocean. … Every moment we have a chance to make choices what kind of products we use, how we use them and how we dispose of the trash. …When in nature be really respectful, don’t touch them – it is really about behaving in a way of interacting with creatures in the ocean that is super respectful. …I think it is that once you start giving energy to things that you are passionate about other people are watching and… are inspired by what we do and I am really inspired by that interaction be

Writers, influencing positive change

Writers Influencing Positive Change As writers we have the perfect craft for creating positive change and I’d like to share a few of these options here today. As writers we can help others heal and express their emotions through our own poetry or song lyrics, we can express love and passion, share memories and educate others. By writing about causes and providing readers the tools to enact upon them, we enable our readers to also be a catalyst for positive change. We can help someone else share their stories, their experiences or family history. But there are other ways we can make a difference too. Before querying a publisher or publication: -        Investigate their in-house green and socially responsible activities to see if their actions align with yours. (recycling efforts, carbon offset programs, alternative energy use, charitable donations, tree planting efforts etc.) -        Search for information on whether they use recycled or alter

Making A Difference In More Ways Than One

-- Quote of the Day -- re: Being a Proactive Musician:   “Whenever I am in a studio and we are discussing a new song – I look for songs that people can enjoy that tell a real life story, something people can relate to. …The writing process itself is tedious between getting the lyrics and the music – it can be pretty crazy. But you have to just go for it, you have to almost make yourself vulnerable… but once you get it, it is pretty awesome. …I’ve performed at several benefit concerts… it is very humbling to be able to play at things like that …to see all these people who come out to support the cause – it is really awesome.” ~ Josie Milner Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on July 30 2013 … titled: Musicians Making a Difference   (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Brummet's In the Media --  Join me today Live on the P

Taking Time

-- Quote of the Day --  “The skilled master of life never opposes things; he never tries to change things by asserting himself against them; he yields to their full force… without ever encountering their direct opposition. That is to say, he treats them positively; he changes them by acceptance, by taking them into his confidence, never by flat denial.” ~ Allan Watts – The Spirit Of Zen -- Sunday --  I'm taking the afternoon to work on a manuscript and spending this morning tidying the house, walking the dogs, vacuuming and doing a work out. It is important to take the time away from the office, even when self-employed - even when the office is in the house and never, ever goes away. So today I plan on doing a half day or less in the office. One has to avoid exhaustion and burn out at all costs or production and quality suffer. So today I simply urge our readers to take that time for yourself so that you can fill up that energy reserve and b
