Recommended Resources All about the youth today... https://www.ted.com/talks/freeman_hrabowski_4_pillars_of_college_success_in_science ....one of the most inspiring talks about making the world a better place by inspiring young minds and helping them reach for their greatest potential. …oh man, I do wish I was one of the   privileged enough to attend this school, meet and possibly talk with this man and the team he works with. Just listening to this talk inspires me to stretch my self; I can only imagine what his students and co-workers feel like around him in person. So inspiring… hope you can take the time for this one. ...and... Well, here is one for those families out there dealing with the individual “rebel(s)” – perhaps we should embrace those that push the borders a little, those that question, that don’t like things the way they are… and here’s why: https://www.ted.com/talks/alice_rawsthorn_pirates_nurses_and_other_rebel_designers ...

Positive News

-- Positive News --  Did you know...?  - That illiteracy went from 50% of the world population down to 25% of the people on this earth. 25% of us cannot read - however we have greatly increased the number of people who can in just a few decades! - That the entirety of all of human knowledge ,from the beginning of our time to this moment, is now doubled every 18 months ?  - That the world's "extreme poverty" (those that live on a dollar a day or less) was around 36% in 1990. Lateral thinking

Lateral Thinking * Written by Wayne David Russell, creator of:   Lateral Thinking Course - A Definitive Guide To Solving The Impossible. http://LateralThinkingCourse.com Brains waves have been monitored by science for almost 100 years. The first brain wave detected, the Alpha brain wave was discovered by Hans Berger in 1929 using an Electroencephalograph (EEG) machine. Since then four other brain waves have been identified, which has stirred much research about their nature and purpose. So far science publicly acknowledges brain waves are an indication of the different states of mind. Behind the scenes science is discovering they do much more! There are 5 known brain waves Alpha, Beta, Delta Theta and Gamma. These brain wave signals are at the Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) range of 1 Hz to 40 Hz.  ELF's have the ability to travel long distances penetrating land, sea and air. Ultra long distance sonar operates at ELF's of 50 Hz. This raises a few question...

Science of Poetry

Writing Science Poetry By Susan Shaw is a freelance writer and web content writer. Her articles and web content appear online. Susan Shaw is an affiliate of The Book Store/The Science Library, [ http://thebookstore.vstoremarket.com/index.htm ] (For The Science Library, put "Science" in their search engine.) Science poetry or scientific poetry is a specialized poetic genre that makes use of science as its subject. Written by scientists and nonscientists, science poets are generally avid readers and appreciators of science and "science matters." Science poetry may be found in anthologies, in collections, in science fiction magazines that sometimes include poetry, in other magazines and journals. Many science fiction magazines, including online magazines, such as Strange Horizons, often publish science fiction poetry, another form of science poetry. Of course science fiction poetry is a somewhat different genre. Online there is the Science Poetry Center for ...

Nature & Science

-- Quote of the Day -- " It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man  - for precisely the same reasons ."  ~ Douglas Adams  -- New Bio-Mimicry Energy Resource -- Once again science is inspired by nature - often dubbed as bio-mimicry...  Toyota Central R&D Labs, Inc. (Toyota CRDL) announced on September 20, 2011, that it had succeeded in demonstrating an artificial photosynthesis process that, for the first time in the world, generates an organic compound  (Formic Acid) using only water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and sunlight… an exciti...

-- Quote of the Day -- “ …Once {a person has} learned that one of their close community of friends or one of their loved ones has been diagnosed with a potential devastating diagnosis such as cancer - there is a real powerful way to be about it. Rather than walking into that space of ‘I don’t know what to do; I don’t know what to say; I am helpless and surrounded by uncertainty’ - there is a real powerful way to be. And those people need to find the power to overcome those normal ways of being, which are helplessness and uncertainty… and to understand that even if they say nothing but just their simply presence alone in the house with the person after they have been diagnosed is a tremendous support. No one should underestimate of the extent that they can positively affect a person’s life simply with their presence… ” ~ Amy Blackburn – Jan 8, 2009 -- Find this interview with Amy by clicking on the link for the Conscious Discussions radio show, look to the archives listed according t...
