-- Quote of the Day --  “There is a real competition between our energy needs and our need for healthy soil. …Whether that cellulose goes into the energy stream or whether it will be processed by microorganisms and builds healthy soil – is going to be both a marketing and regulation issue. …we are not saying that we don’t aren’t going to want to transition to bio energy because that is what green energy is, in addition to solar and wind. …Methane is a natural gas, as opposed to ethanol and alcohol in its liquid form. I like this option because we can produce it from plants and organic waste. There is no magic bullet (when it comes to global warming and managing organics) – but there might be magic buckshot solution… because there is a lot of different opportunities here.” ~ Dan Noble Access the full interview with Dan via:  http://tobtr.com/s/5058487  -- Referral Corner -- http://oedb.org/online-schools ...

Loving those in need

-- Quote of the Day --  “'Tis said of love that it sometimes goes, sometimes flies; runs with one, walks gravely with another, turns a third into ice and sets a fourth in flame; it wounds one, another it kills: like lightening it begins and ends in the same moment, it makes that fort yield at night which it besieged but in the morning, for there is no force able to resist it.” ~ Elizabeth Bowen -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio --  * Airs live @ 10-11 AM (Pacifc)  - all episodes are archived indefinitely within moments after they air live, and are available for you to listen to later on at any time of day.   Sign up via itunes for the Conscious Discussions Radio show: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id262138144   Susan Finch is the ...

Conscious Shopping tip

I was thrilled to hear from Kara (of Uncommon Goods -  an online retailer that endeavors to feature unique designs and handcrafted products to a broad audience , while raising funds for a variety of  charities). Kara tells me that they have the aim of increasing their monthly donations by 10%... and asked me to help get the word out about their  Better to Give   charitable program that allows their customers to choose a  charity at checkout for us to make a $1 donation to. Our goal this month is to increase average monthly donations by 10%. So of course I was thrilled to play a small role in this - I can only celebrate businesses that act in such a conscious and proactive way to create positive change across the planet. In just 12 years UncommonGoods.com has raised over $300,000 for several charities including RAINN (an anti-sexual violence organization with programs to prevent violence and help survivors in the healing journey), American Fores...

World of Writing, interview

Today we are featuring a World of Writing Q&A   interview with Jorge Enrique Aguayo (Tedel) editor and creator of an online cultural magazine: http://heptagrama.com Q: Where are you from? A: I am from Peru. I was born in its capital city, Lima, in 1979. it's a nice (although somewhat messy city). You should try to visit it some day. Q: When did you consider yourself a writer? A: I'd say that since I was 14 or 15. Those days I was at school, and some of my classmates were feeling themselves writers and sharing with each other their drafts for criticism. I gave it a try and I liked it, so I decided to go on with it. Some years later, I tried to get a poetry book published. I got an appointment with a very reputable editor named Oscar Fernandez (he passed away a few years ago). He mentioned my writing was good, but that he would not publish my manuscript. " Unfortunately, people like to read p...

Natural Soap Bars, review

-- Product Review -- Knowing the renowned properties of hemp oil, which is rich in a balanced ratio of EFA fats, many different vitamins and protein, and being good for sensitive dry skin, I was excited to try the Wholly Hemp 4 oz (118.3 ml) soap bars. Besides being based on hydrating organic hemp oil and shea butter, this soap is infused with essential oils. Ingredients vary depending on the type of bar you choose but can include: different combinations of hemp, coconut, pam, sunflower, peppermint, orange, lavender and lemon oils and rosemary extract. As such the Wholly Hemp products actually work quite nicely with skin ailments from acne to eczema and dermatitis or psoriasis. This is a wholly sustainable product since the company really cares about where their ingredients come from, how they are grown and harvested, and the social impact they have on that area. After visiting their site I learned that the company also donates up to 25% of their profits to chariti...
