Dave and I have been working like little chipmunks in the office, getting all kinds of activities, projects and publications ready for the New Year. Less than one week away from making some major announcements about the changes and opportunities we have been working on for the beginning of '11. As you may already be aware the first editions of Trash Talk and Towards Understanding are going out of print and we have arranged to have them released in 2nd editions for 2011. So far, 3 of our books have been revised and made available as e-books... but this is just the start of things. Check out the site for the changes as they are happening: www.brummet.ca

In between these projects, we've been taking a few hours every-other-day to play in the powder on the mountains. Our favorite winter activity is to snowshoe, and we go as often as we can. We were talking about this the other day, Dave and I, and we both agreed that we have learned to love winter - because of snowshoeing :)

A lot of people out there, though, are forgetting that winter conditions change how we need to drive and walk around. Some people tend to walk on the main roads, rather than the sidewalks, endangering the traffic. Others are trying to use bicycles beside burms of plowed snow, this combined with narrow icy streets can lead to hazards. In our travels we've seen a lot of signs where vehicles have gone off the road and experts are saying through the media that most of these incidents were preventable simply by driving for the conditions. We need to remember that just because we might have a 4-wheel drive, or a big vehicle, or good tires  - that we are not able to just whip around like we would in summer. Yesterday on the highway, a person ahead of us was turning right and slowing down to do so - as they should. But the big speeding truck behind us was not wanting to give them (or us) any space and Dave had to squeeze past the vehicle ahead of us. Really. Is it so necessary to push and shove with our vehicles like that? So today, I urge everyone - be patient, allow a little extra time for driving, and slow down. Be safe :)
