Childhood Literacy

-- Quote of the Day --

“I just love words, and I think that the greatest influence is my mother who, even if we had an argument earlier in the day, at night time we would get together and read. …I feel that reading is a kill and that if you can read, you can conquer anything. …I find that taking that 10 or 20 minutes just before a child goes to sleep for one-on-one time to read with or to them and talk about what you are reading and they will tell you about their day. This is a time for bonding; it is a private little world with someone that is important in your life. I think that it not only stimulates their imagination, it also gives them a sense of importance, a sense of who she/he is. You can’t start to early.
