Wow - We've had a lot of wonderful awards and recognitions this year!
"In appreciation for the work you do, I am donating a case of books in your name to: www.open-books.org" ~ author, Carol Denbow - www.authorsbox.com (Nov 16, 2008)
A sincere note of appreciation to Carol Denbow for this incredible gift of acknowledgment of our 2 radio shows and our support for literacy. Carol - you are indeed a wonderful person ;)
" As the holidays near, Brighter Planet is getting into the spirit of giving. Yesterday we launched the One Day campaign. We're donating a day's worth of our premium offsets to those willing to conserve during the holidays. Because of your past help with our 350 Challenge, 136 pounds of offsets have been donated in your name by Seamus Abshere. " ~ Adam Rubin, CT0 of the Brighter Planet Organization (Dec 4, 2008) - www.brighterplanet.com
The email earlier today from Adam telling us about this gift was so unexpected - we sincerely appreciate this wonderful and thoughtful gift.
LiveSmart BC ( a province wide program that offers rebates and incentives for green living) and Premier Gordon Campbell recently awarded Grand Forks as 1 of 9 green communities in BC Canada. The program also features "Community Heroes", which awards individuals who are standing out as creating positive, ecological change. Grand Forks residents Dave and Lillian Brummet were the first winners highlighted as Community Heroes and are now one of six finalists for the province-wide grand prize.
Lillian and Dave work as a team and strive to help individuals realize the value of their efforts and encourage them to become more positive, proactive and ecologically responsible. Their work has involved an eco-column called Trash Talk that ran from 1999-2007 and continues to be picked up by publications around the globe. This column eventually evolved into their first book - to date, they have 3 published books to their credit. The Brummets manage a blog and newsletter and host 2 radio shows. At home, in the garden and in the office they practice what they preach; while on vacation and on days off they can be found cleaning garbage or pulling invasive weeds from trails and riversides or training the two rescued dogs they’ve recently adopted from the local branch of the SPCA.
