Aquatic invasive species can be spread from one body of water to another via boats, equipment, fishing gear and other water apparatus.
People can stop the spread of these invasive life forms by making sure that they take the time to clean the equipment and drain water from the bilge, buckets, ballast and wells.
Take the time to dry the exterior by hand as much as possible when you are hitching the machinery to trailers or to your vehicle prior to transporting.
To ensure there is no transportation, it is suggested that people allow the machines and equipment to air dry for 30 days before entering a different body of water. This step isn't necessary if you are going to the same body of water regularly.
