Citizen Scientists is a volunteer non-profit group that allows volunteers of all ages to help scientists by providing data on ecological monitoring via programs like bat, bird or bee count projects (people count, photograph and document sightings from their window, garden or local natural spaces). They offer training and educational materials, all kinds of projects for youth and seniors to get involved in. There are sister organizations in other countries, this link is for Canada:
