I found this next bit of inspiring news from Reuters.com - it is a fantastic article about a small company who recycles plastic waste into bricks stronger than concrete.   These bricks are used to pave streets, walkways and to construct walls among other uses. 

Recycling 60 tons of plastic to make 4500 bricks per day. It is an amazing story, check it out when you have the time:
