Quote of the Day

"Some youth love school  but can't go back because of pregnancy,  early marriage or poverty.  So a library becomes their consoling space."  ~ Duncan Ahigika  - CEO of Elohim Child Development Association ~~~   Discover the Brummet's Books on Amazon :  https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0845RLK1X  Find Them Online via :  https://taplink.cc/brummet  https://linktr.ee/LillianBrummet ~~~

Thanks Creston Public Library

Creston Public Library A big hug of appreciation goes out to our local  Creston Library  who has shown incredible support for the many local published authors. The hard working staff and volunteers are constantly changing things up, offering new projects, entertainers, educators and all kinds of children events. I know I've said "thanks" already, however I finally found a picture we had taken, or was sent to us (I forget now) of the display that the library did for all the local published authors works that they had in stock.  I'm so proud that 5 of our 6 books were included. You can see our  Trash Talk  prominently displayed and the others are in there somewhere - I see  Purple Snowflake  on the top shelf... and our bookmarks too in the middle there!!! So kind of the library...   ~~ Visit the Brummet's @:  http://BrummetMedia.ca

recommended resources

-- Recommended Resources --  I really enjoy sharing resources, links, networking opportunities here in this section for anyone interested in having a positive impact with their time on this earth. Lately, I've been studiously going through the thousands of lectures put out by the TED institute's participants. It's a popular site. I look at it as free education, but more on the enlightening, inspiring, awe-striking knowledge and possibilities for our future. There are a surprising number of online educational and inspiring sites like this. It is exciting to see how much work is being done to create a better world. We can do our part by sharing the info we enjoy. So - why don't you help me by spreading the word about this blog, or sharing links to specific posts you enjoy? Or leave a comment, question or invitation for networking on the wide array of topics our blog offers. Perhaps you have an article, resources you'd like to share, or quotes that have inspired ...

Reading, Writing & Libraries

-- Quote of the Day -- I love reading, and there are times when life just gets so crazy that I have only a few precious moments snatched in the day for reading... The last two days however I was able to get a good reading fix in - lol - having just finished a book by  Thomas Block titled Skyfall and now reading one called The Camerons by Robert Crighten. Dave just finished a book by Dick Francis titled Longshot - and he's about to choose another  from our pile of un-read books. Anyway it has been wonderful to have had some time to just disappear in a book for hours at a time. And this is the reason behind the quote of the day: "It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop." ~ Vita Sackville-West ...

Read a Novel Month

-- Just Read a Novel Month -- Did you know that January is a writer's haven? Not only are the winter months more conducive to the task of writing, this is also a time when many people are increasing their reading habits while enjoying the comfort and warmth of the indoors. Libraries and bookstores will notice an increase of traffic during the cold season and many writing events are traditionally held around this time of year. In fact, January is "Just Read a Novel Month", the goal being to encourage people to read one novel during the month of January. I did some research online on this interesting concept, apparently only novels count (memoirs, short stories, essays, poetry, non-fiction... do not count) and it must be something you have not read before - and it must be read within the 31 days in January. This is a great opportunity for writer's groups of all sizes, ages and varieties to consider participating in. Many have taken this concept to heart and are now end...
