Inspiring People thru Knowledge & Celebrations

-- Quote of the Day --

"Be thankful for what you have;
You'll end up having more.
If you concentrate on what you don't have,
You will never have enough."

~ Oprah Winfrey

Ok, I really am - honestly, truly - taking the next two days off from the office. As most of you already know I try to take 3-days off in a row - by closing the doors to the office and not breaching them. Not an easy task with a home office! - So today, Sat, and tomorrow, Sun - are mine :)  I'll be back again on Monday, answering emails and back to work diligently as always... In the meantime, please feel free to scroll through the archived posts, and look through the links on the sidebars of this blog. ...Your probably grinning at the ironic situation here: of this blog post during my "day off", but I wanted to let y'all know since this is a daily blog. :)

The Brummet's Muse Newsletter went out this morning - and I noticed an error: the first announcement is repeated... this was totally unintentional and I do apologize for the error... as you can see, I do need my days off! -lol-

 -- Positive Eco-News --

The powerful impact that community events, fairs and expos were hoping to have can now be proven. A study was recently completed by Japan's Global Environment Outreach Center (an environmental research center) on the sixth annual Eco-Volunteer Day that was held back on July 10, 2010. What they found was that there were 41 organizations participating in some way for the event from ten different environmental field (agriculture, city planning, conservation, recycling, etc). That is pretty powerful in itself since those 41 organizations had a wonderful opportunity to network and learn about each other. Beyond that, however, more than half of the people who met and spoke with organization staff wanted to volunteer or join as a member with that organization... many of whom had not volunteered before, or were not aware of the issues. So this shows us that organizations can become more powerful by joining together; they gain volunteers, members and a strong networking team of other organizations that they can call on for future projects. But more importantly, citizens are motivated to commit time, energy, and finances by the inspiring knowledge they gain.
