Businesses going green

 -- Conscious Business --

Information obtained from facebook:

Congrats to  Ideal Market for their waste reduction efforts. This store has found unique and interesting ways to recycle most of their waste - everything from organics to scrap metal (including unusable metal shopping carts, shelving, and tables).

Food scraps and compostable paper products like paper towels from the produce department, break room, and kitchens are composted.

They also practice Zero Waste purchasing, being conscious of what their money is being spent on - such as: paper products like copy paper, napkins, paper towels, and toilet paper with at least 80% post-consumer recycled content.

Reuse is also a priority at Ideal Market: goods like bread and other perishable foods are donated to three local shelters at the end of each day, used produce boxes go to local farmers, and used building materials are sent to the ReSource Yard during renovations.

It really is easy to be green, you know - most of the options are already in place for us to utilize it is just a matter of making that conscious effort. A lot of hesitation is caused from not wanting to add more work to an already busy day - but by making these changes an every-day practice it will save the business time and money, and you'll see a lot of interesting opportunities for media exposure and social marketing to your customers.
