You've read my articles on alternative energy, perhaps our Trash Talk - It's Easy To Be Green series... and these share my obvious enthusiasm for the potential of modern science and technology to lead human kind to a more conscious and sustainable future.

It is so encouraging to have learned that Germany, a leader in solar energy installation, has experienced amazing results. Apparently the country broke the world record by producing 5.1 terrawatt hours of clean energy in July alone... which is about 6 times the amount produced by the US.  

Germany is paving the way for the rest of us, showing the staggering positive results of their efforts and how they've successfully changed the financial picture making finances lead positive changes.

Suppose, for instance, we decide to use taxes to deal with the issues we face. So instead of tax breaks for large companies and big polluters, we tax them heavily - a fine of sorts - and use that new fund to finance and encourage new green business, offer more rebates, environmental clean up projects and green space creation programs (to name a few). All of a sudden it makes financial sense to do the right thing - and finances really do control the human world.  The new job creation would be inevitable and would make up for any loss from downsizing the big polluters. It makes "cents" - right?
