Be The Change
Cost: Free screening

Day/Time: October 9, 2018;  6:15pm to 8:15pm

Location: Annette Library, 145 Annette St, Toronto, ON M6P 1P3

About:  Be the Change is a documentary that makes stars out of ordinary people who are trying to live more sustainably. What motivates these local heroes? The challenges and rewards are revealed as they try to live more lightly, or more sustainably. It is a celebration of the human spirit. What will it take to get everybody else on board? Avoiding both preaching and scare tactics, Be the Change attempts to answer such questions as What does living lightly look like? Who is doing it? What do they get out of it? Does it hurt? Is it enough? Can all of us give it a try? Written by David Chernushenko https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1381531/

High Park Seed Collecting and Boulevard Beds

Date/Location: Sun Oct 14, 2018, Toronto, ON

Join the High Park Stewards as we collect native plant seeds to be used in next year's plantings. There will be multiple groups, so lots of volunteers are needed! Seeds will be collected at two sites: (1) the tablelands restoration site, and (2) the High Park Greenhouse native plant nursery (a rare opportunity, as the greenhouse is not open to the public). In addition, a small group will work in the boulevard beds near the Grenadier Restaurant.
... collect seeds from a variety of native grasses, such as Canada wild rye; little and big bluestem; and Indian, bottlebrush, and panic grass. There are also many different types of wildflowers that are ready to harvest for next year.

Meet At: Grenadier Restaurant at 10:30 am, and we will go together to the various sites. All tools will be provided.
