Dental Health & Presentation Tips

-- Quote of the Day -- The quote I've chosen for today ( below ) originated from a Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show that aired back on May 27th, 2010 on How to Write and Speak like a Professional . You can find the archived show three different ways - the easiest is to simply click on the title above. Otherwise, visit the Conscious Discussions homepage and scroll through the archives listed there. Or you can visit our site ( www.brummet.ca ) to find a handy hyper-linked list of archived shows.     “ To me, the starting point is what you say (as opposed to stage presence) - unless you are going to be on stage strictly to be an entertainer, to make people laugh and smile than fine, the content isn’t important. But if you are trying to convince people about something …it doesn’t matter how good of an entertainer you are, you are not going to get your point across. …Stage presence, vocal variety, gestures, movements, and all that are there to emphas...

Wildlife Programs, Healthy Food & More!

-- Events & Celebrations -- I hope that everyone had a relaxing long weekend ;) For those of you who are not already aware, here in Canada we just celebrated Labor Day - which is a time when we honor those who strove for a better workplace, better rights and health care for workers. In this time of economic strife, especially here in BC where we have the highest cost of living AND the lowest minimum wage in Canada - we can use this time to re-evaluate where our nation is right now and where we are heading in the future. So I took his advice and majored in History and Literature. Today, newspapers are more picky about who they hire and they want to see a major in journalism and to see that you have done an internship. …I teach two classes per semester and I have my students do a lot of reading – you cannot become a really good writer unless you are a good reader. When you read good literature you take in the language almost by osmosis, you get a feel for the language; you have a feel for connotation and the use of words. You cannot really teach somebody that, th...

Events happening over the next few days...

-- Quote of the Day -- It’s almost impossible to keep a secret because, as you know, to “air is human”. ~ Unknown -- Conscious Events -- August is Dental Awareness Month - did you know that dental health is linked to both breast cancer and heart problems? Have regular check ups, brush after every meal and floss once a day - try using natural toothpastes without the fluoride, artificial flavors and chemicals. Look for natural toothpastes that feature tea tree oil (Melaleuca Alternafolia), oregano, myrrh, cinnamon or clove oils... all known for their healing and anti-bacteria properties. Also look for a floss that has a similar oil content. Don't forget to brush your tongue once per day. And a swish out in between with a mouth rinse - natural, of course - would be appropriate as well. 1st Monday (Aug 3rd) – Civic Holiday : A national holiday in Canada that often provids the work force with a paid day off :) Aug 2nd-5th – Annual CRRA Conference (re: zero waste) Rancho Mirage, Cali...
