reducing consumerism

Buy Nothing Day  Did you know that Buy Nothing Day was founded by a Canadian artist based in Vancouver back in 1992... it is now an internationally celebrated awareness day, with it's own website:  BuyNothingDay.org It challenges us to evaluate shopping and spending habits, to reduce consumerism, increase the ability to "make-do" and avoid trips to the grocery store, or corner store... So, no sudden dashes for ice cream treats or to buy gas.  Buy Now Some participants will go the extra mile and avoid driving, turning on unnecessary lights, cutting up plastic cards, using a computer or TV or phone... just for the day. It is actually quite the challenge!
