These nutrient rich element contain phosphorous or nitrogen. This inclusion of nutrients in the aquatic ecosystem lead to an increase of algae in the pond. This scenario could also lead to a decline in oxygen levels and depletion of fish and other marine animals and plant life. Hence algae control becomes imperative for these reasons. In a few cases algal blooms are referred to as "harmful algal blooms" which can be extremely damaging to animals, aquatic plants, and sometimes humans.
