-- Reducing Waste -- Here’s something we can all do to reduce the amount of “waste” we are contributing to the recycling and landfill systems by considering the reuse or repurpose potential of each item. First, take a moment to jot down any local program, group, or class that may utilize "waste" items. For instance: school art and sewing classes, kindergarten and preschool groups, daycares, youth groups, art and design programs at universities, sewing groups, or check out the the local recreation center and family centers… These places are often in need of items for their art projects. We can support their efforts, helping extend their budgets by offering them our “waste”. Everything from glass bottles and plastic containers, to cloth scraps and rags, egg cartons, coat hangers, magazines… buttons, bits and pieces of ribbon, wrapping paper, paper bags… and more.
