Inspiring Quote

" When describing people, stay away from hair and eye color, as well as height and  weight. Many writers make the mistake of describing their characters like the  people in a police blotter. Think, instead, about the way you might describe your  friends. Do you know the height and weight of your friends? Do you ever think  about their eye color? These features are not as interesting as other, more complex  descriptors. Consider your characters' gestures, the shape of their facial features,  their gait, their dimples, their scars, the way they laugh, the quality of their teeth,  their stance, their fashion sense, their odor, their vocal tone, and so on. You do that by shining like a purple  snowflake among a snowstorm of your peers. We want to be that shiny purple  snowflake and there's a lot of ways of going about doing that! Let’s use the example of advertising in a magazine using the Purple Snowflake Marketing technique: I'm going to put an ad in a magazine I'm going to research that Magazine first of all I'm going to make sure that their circulation is highly targeted to my topic so I'm not wasting money I'm also  going to be talking to the magazine about what kind of  ...

Poetry Time

Poetry Time This monthly series began more than a decade ago in an effort to encourage the joys of poetry. Here we celebrate other poet's work, as well as our own. If you would like to submit, simply visit the  ABOUT  page for guidelines & contact information. MY DOOR, EVERMORE Soft, shallow music flowing, Birds whispering their quiet, undemanding love, Lustrous trees bending to the powerful wind That’s just outside my door - evermore. Can’t you hear the music from where you stand? The echoed chirps of love? Can you feel the wind blowing, my friend? Just outside my open door – evermore. Inside the open door Is a small, neat, cozy mat. And on its face clearly written: welcome. To your right is a place for your hat. Inside my door - evermore. Yes, I’ve been hurt, and burned, and stepped on too. And even cried tears, just like you. You are safe inside my door. Look - open your eyes and see. No pressure, no pain, no cutting words. Things to be left in the outside world. Look a...

© Brummet Media Group Organizations like the North American Butterfly Association are working every day to protect & create important habitat for pollinators – particularly butterflies. Working with backyard & professional gardeners, farmers, cities & governments across the globe.  For instance: In 2021, NABA acquired what was once called Chihuahua Woods — a wild, overgrown, and neglected 350-acre property just 6 miles from the National Butterfly Center .  "This is not just land. It’s a refuge. A sanctuary. A future.” Renamed  Pixie Preserve — because it’s a place of magic, mystery, and immense potential - now has several successful projects in place including: • Restoring barretal habitat — the last known home of the Manfreda Giant-Skipper, a butterfly so rare, it’s been pushed to the brink of extinction by habitat loss. • Planting 12,000+ native seedlings — tailored to saline soils and resilient against invasive grasses. • Building a LEED-certified ...

In The Media :)

In the Media  The Miles Beyond the Page podcast is in its 3rd season, and is available on many channels including YouTube where they have 8.32 K subscribers – which is no small feat!  I was honoured to appear as a featured guest - Where we chat about writing and passing on what we have learned to this fantastic audience, helping other writers is a passion-project for me – even though I’ve done a little coaching and freely helped friends out with advice, I also love to freely offer this kind of help in writers’ groups and discussions like this.   In this  Interview   host Michelle Miles skillfully guides this discussion offering insights into marketing, branding, & standing out in a crowded creative landscape.   Check it out on:  YouTube ,  Apple  or  Spotify ~~~     Follow us & find our Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel ...

Positive Healing

I had the opportunity to re-visit an interview I was invited to do on the  Advisor Podcast    and while listening to it again I discovered this important part of the discussion below about surrounding oneself with positivity in order to heal, recover strength and become our own friend.  “  I found that I had to completely change my life and protect myself, so I went into overdrive and eliminated of all the magazines, all the newspapers cancelled television cancelled any relationship or any thing that was not negative in my life and just surrounded myself in a very selfish bubble like cocoon until I could heal myself.  Writing became a massive tool for me to heal during all of this. To express myself in a very private way without worrying about how it sounded to others. It was very helpful for me." https://www.spreaker.com/episode/embracing-resilience-a-guide-to-overcoming-grief-and-sadness--52898603 ~~~     Follow us & find our Books: ...
