World of Writing

-- World of Writing -- That's right! It's time for another fascinating interview with other writers, offering their insights on the industry. Loyal listeners of our radio sho may remember we had Tracy Slatton on as a featured guest back in May 2008 - check out the full interview via: Midlife & the Italian Renaissance She has some more interesting thoughts on the industry that she'd like to share with us today, but first let me tell you a little about her. She lives in Manhattan with her husband, sculptor Sabin Howard - and she's here to speak about both her life as an author and her thoughts on the world of e-publishing. * Find Traci @: www.tracilslatton.com Q: Where are you from? Summer Heat; Publisher News

-- Chatter --  I've just learned from one of our publishers that the softcover format for Trash Talk (environment) and Towards Understanding (poetry) will no longer be available. Instead, the publisher is switching to hardcover formats only! - And they are doing this at the same retail price, which is really cool.  The hardcovers will, of course, be much more durable and will retain their value (for resale in second hand stores, for instance) - I think that will appeal to today's readers. From what I understand this change will occur in early June. It will be interesting to see what will come of this. Watch for the changes via your favorite online retailer over the next couple of weeks, as their systems become updated with the format change. -- Brummets in the Media -- I am excited to share that I will be interviewed on on http://SellingBooks.com today - the interview between myself and Cathy Stucker will be posted around 2 PM (pacific), or soon after. Please c...

Writing: benefits of e-publishing; authors reading

-- Quote of the Day -- “…as long as an e-book is selling fairly well, I will go back once a year and review it. I also have a proofreader and bless her heart she has seen a lot of stuff. I will update a book once a year and send it to her… we try to weed out the old links that are no longer operating and put in the new material that we found about once a year in our e-books.” ~ Hope Clark 06/05/08 During this interview with Hope Clark on the Conscious Discussions talk radio show on funds for writers, Hope mentioned one of the main benefits of today's electronic publishing is that the author has much more control on the material - the ability to keep the information updated. To find this interview, simply click on the hyper-linked show title here in today's post or look to the right for a link to the Conscious Discussions talk radio show. * Hope Clark's interview aired on June 5, 2008. -- Authors Read -- Interestingly I’ve been getting a lot of guest query applications a...
