Green Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- “…Wind is very special; for the 21 st century we are going to have to have different kinds of renewable energy. …Wind is a force of nature; it is completely renewable, it is potentially available 24/7 - 365 days a year. …Many governments are recognizing the important contributions of wind as a source of providing all our energy needs. It is a possible dominate provider of meeting all of our energy needs. …There are 3 reasons why this is possible – #1: We have huge inefficiencies in how energy is being provided, as high as 70% of the energy is lost (in transportation) before you finally get it. #2: We need greater conservation, a huge amount of waste by the consumer. …#3: is to encourage the adaptation of these new technologies so that they become mainstream.”   ~ Sharolyn Vettese of Wind Simplicity  * Access the full discussion via: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/consciousdiscussions/2011/12/01/wind-power Find Dave an...

Waste - to - Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents - which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant." ~ Horace, Roman Poet -- Composts Creating Energy -- We now have 115 gas-to-energy operations in North America; some were built for collecting gasses from existing and older landfill sites, others were built for collecting gas released from modern composting facilities. One more was added in Quebec where a new facility is expected to produce enough electricity to power 6,500 houses simply by collecting and reusing methane released from the Saint-Nicephore landfill – further reducing negative impacts on the environment.  Methane is at least 20 times more damaging to the environment then C02… so facilities like these are an excellent way of removing this threat and changing it to something society can benefit from. By reusing the gasses in this way, it reduce...

Power the House

Compareelectricityrates.com wrote us with some really nice comments about our work her on the blog. they also wanted to offer the following article for our readers, which I'm certain you will enjoy.  10 Cool Ways to Provide Power to Your House  Electricity is something most people take for granted and don’t really have any idea how it’s generated. They just flip a light switch or plug into an outlet and pay the monthly bills for the service. This is amazing considering the fact that people lived without electricity for thousands of years. Even though we’ve only had this luxury for less than 200 years, most of us would have a hard time living without it. If something catastrophic happened or if you just want to live “off the grid”, what are some cool ways to provide the power you need for your own home? Solar – If you live in an area with plentiful sunshine, solar panels would be a likely source to consider. There has been extensive res...
