World Water Day

World Water Day  World Water Day was set aside by the UN to highlight the importance of clean fresh water. Events focus on water conservation, education, sustainable projects for the management of fresh water resources, beach clean up projects and river-side replanting projects, and invasive species volunteer groups heading out to eradicate unwanted plants that will choke out native species. The first World Water Day was officially held in 1993 and is now celebrated across the planet. Consider picking up a copy of our Trash Talk book series which addresses many ways of conserving the amount of water we use, reusing old water and reducing water use. For instance, one might save the water from cooking potatoes; once cool, it can be used to feed outdoor plants.  Hot water from the canner can be used to kill weeds in the driveway, gravel walkways and sidewalks. Recommended Resources Kudos to the large number of people gathering the waste found in the ocean, rivers, waterways, streets and landfills!!! Here’s a very inspiring video that shows people in the act of cleaning up the oceans - https://www.facebook.com/ScienceNaturePage/videos/1246922062106716/   The video was put out to celebrate the  40cean.com organization – check out their site when you get a chance! Their whole campaign rests on selling Made from recycled materials, every bracelet purchased funds the removal of 1 pound of trash from the ocean - and those funds are used to hire fisherfolk to harvest plastic instead of fish. In less than 2 years, 4Ocean has removed 522,280 pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines.
