Media Appearance

Media Appearance - Author Interview Elephant Journal (2002-present) recently published an interview with Dave and I  and I'm so excited to tell our blog readers about them today. You know we love celebrating green business here on our blog and we are proud to share that Elephant Journal is a very conscious and proactive publication.  " We started off as a magazine. But after going national in Whole Foods and such, we wanted to further “green” our ways (we were already printed on state-of-the-art eco-paper). Thing is, the bigger you get as a magazine, the fewer copies, percentage-wise, you sell. We were unwilling to join all the other magazines in selling only three out of 10, and wasting the rest (magazines get milled, printed, bounded, shipped from China typically [we were US], shipped another five times…it’s incredibly wasteful after all of that to waste seven out of 10 copies, which can’t even really be recycled—getting inks out of magazine paper is super energy-intensive)...

Purpose Driven Grocery Shopping

Purpose Driven Grocery Shopping   Grocery shopping can have a positive impact on the environment, your budget, the community you live in and the nutritional value of your meals. This is why we are seeing such an increase in the local food movement from "100 mile diet" campaigns to food action coalitions helping restaurants and grocery stores support local food suppliers. For the individual grocery shopper, this means taking the time to find and purchase from retailers that stock locally grown and produced foods - for us, this means within British Columbia (Canada). Luckily, Dave and I also live in an agricultural paradise, and this special community truly cares about the health of its valley. Most of the restaurants here in Creston (BC, Canada) and the grocery stores offer locally grown foods.  Going a step further, gardening in your yard, on your balcony, in front of the window or along a walkway can have a positive effect on the environment too. In fact, Dave and I grow muc...

Poetry Time

Poetry Time  Rhythm & Rhyme  Dave and Lillian began writing professionally back in 1999 and wanted to use this as a tool for sparking positive change and motivating readers to lead more proactive lives.  According to Lillian: " Poetry has the unique application of allowing the writer to express their own hopes, dreams or pain, and to explore creative use of words, rhythms, fantasy, truths and rhymes ". The couple teamed up to share their poetry in the book Rhythm & Rhyme. Their different writing styles are at their best in this incredible collection - celebrating nature, questioning society, expressing grief and embracing love. Some of the poetry in this book reflects on the emotional turmoil of ailing parents, long-term caregiving, the gut-wrenching waiting period of knowing the end is coming, and eventual grief of their passing. Other poems speak about the strange emptiness that is left when old wounds are healed. You’ll also find poems that celebrate life...

We had just finished a 20 mile bike ride through the Berkshire countryside.  It was a clear and cool spring day in 2018. A light jacket made our ride more comfortable even in the bright sun especially as we sped down hill. Rolling hills, small towns and open country roads made for the perfect getaway weekend for my wife and I.  We stayed in an historic hotel outside of Lenox MA. Our ...

Media Appearance

Media Appearance It is with great pleasure that I write today, letting you know of a wonderful author interview I was invited to participate in via JJ Barnes of The Table Read - a UK-based blog .  In this interview we discussed writing with a partner (in my case, a spouse). We also touched on the writing career itself, discussing what it involves and offering tips for other writers. We shared information about our books, of course, but in this interview I think you'll find it offers a more personal view of our lives. I hope you enjoy it. I sure did, and they did such a wonderful job with the visuals on this particular interview... https://thetableread.co.uk/author-interview-lillian-brummet-from-one-small-garden/ ~~   Visit the Brummet's   Main Website Find them elsewhere online  HERE   ~~
