Product Review

Product Review Cheryle Mauthe , a Kootenay-based (BC, Canada) Independent Consultant with Norwex , approached me back in early December with a product review query. After hearing just a little about the products, I was happy to comply. As it happens, Cheryle resides nearby and she decided to deliver the products and samples to my door. It is unusual for me to come face-to-face with the people behind the products I review and it was a nice experience; she seemed passionate about reducing exposure to chemicals and is committed to a healthy lifestyle.  I received (see pics) the "Household Package" which included:   - Enviro Cloth (multipurpose) - Window Polishing Cloth - Dust Mitt - Powdered Laundry Detergent Sample - Powdered Dishwashing Detergent Sample Cheryle also included a catalogue and a couple of informative brochures about the company. She explained that all we need to do is " simply rinse under warm, running water, wring out and hang to dry. The BacLock technology...

Kudo's to this Innovative Business

Celebrating An Inspiring, Innovative Business: Many of our loyal readers out there are already aware that Dave and I relish celebrating conscious and proactive entrepreneurs who are working to make a difference in the world while providing their services. Today I am thrilled to highlight a local Kootenay-based business with this wonderful discussion below.  We first met Narae Kang, owner of Kimchi Kitchen , when we spotted a post on social media where she was offering a fantastic opportunity for other local businesses - a free (10x6) vinyl decal displayed on their mobile kitchen unit. A little something for their customers to browse while waiting for their meal.   Coming from a marketer’s angle - I saw their selfless, non-promotional post as a great way to reach out to the community. Dave and I, for instance had heard of the truck but had not been customers yet - once we purchased a meal there however, we are definitely customers now. So are dozens of others who saw the post, ...

Drum Tuning - The Snare Drum; part 1

Drum Tuning - How To Tune Snare Drum * This in-depth tutorial article written by Gregory A Hill was a little too long for our blog, therefore I've split it into a 2-part article. Watch for the 2nd portion of this to appear on Feb 3rd . Ahh yes... the snare drum. The most heavily played drum throughout the kit. The snare drum is the center piece, and it can very easily define a drummers style. From a deep thud to a tight snap; maple, birch, bronze, steel, and everywhere in between; the overall sound of this instrument is as varied as ice cream flavours and can be just as sweet if tuned correctly. This tutorial assumes you are putting new drum heads on your snare. If you're using older heads and want to follow the tutorial, just evenly loosen the tension rods on both sides of the drum and remove the rods, hoops, and heads to start anew. Ok - so first, let's start with the "do's and don'ts". Do :  Find the head suited for your style of playing ...

the history of drums

History of Drums * Written by Victor Epand - considered  an expert consultant for guitars, drums, and synthesizers.  History of drums began with the emergence of human civilization. Drum beating as it is popularly known has been associated with the birth of humankind. Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated to DnB, drum n bass and drum and bass) is a sort of electronic dance music also known as jungle. It is also called a membranophone, means an instrument that makes sound by striking a prolonged membrane with some type of object, typically a curved stick. Drums consist of a hollowed out piece (called the body), a covering extended over the end of the drum, and tuning keys or pegs which stiffens or loosens the membrane to achieve different tones. It is a common notion that the body of the drum generates the sound; it is in fact the membrane and its vibration that creates the sound when struck. Following the history of drums, it is presumed origination of drums to be a...

Thanks Creston Public Library

Creston Public Library A big hug of appreciation goes out to our local  Creston Library  who has shown incredible support for the many local published authors. The hard working staff and volunteers are constantly changing things up, offering new projects, entertainers, educators and all kinds of children events. I know I've said "thanks" already, however I finally found a picture we had taken, or was sent to us (I forget now) of the display that the library did for all the local published authors works that they had in stock.  I'm so proud that 5 of our 6 books were included. You can see our  Trash Talk  prominently displayed and the others are in there somewhere - I see  Purple Snowflake  on the top shelf... and our bookmarks too in the middle there!!! So kind of the library...   ~~ Visit the Brummet's @:  http://BrummetMedia.ca

Product Review

Product Review Erica Plessis is the owner of Choose Natural , a business that recently opened in Creston BC (Canada). Walking into the store, I couldn’t help but experience how open, clean and natural it felt. The well-lit room is lined with a great deal of Canadian made products. You’ll find Healing Hollow   organic, wild-harvested essential oil products and bath-bombs “ loaded with omega cluster, vitamins, minerals, plant sterols, GLA, CBD ” that are hand-made locally  (Cranbrook, BC – Canada) . Dotting the shelves periodically are beautifully planted succulents from a local nursery and whimsical wood signs made by a local artist. You won’t find drops and tinctures here however, but instead nutritional oil specially designed for humans and another for pets. You’ll also find creams and pet treats amongst many other health products. Erica tells us that the most popular products are the nutritional oil, the gel-cap supplements and the topical cream. Eric...
