Green Business

-- Quote of the Day --   "Waste not the smallest thing created, for grains of sand make mountains, and atomies infinity. Waste not the smallest time in imbecile infirmity, for well thou knowest that seconds form eternity." ~ E. Knight -- Green Business -- A new project is now being implemented by several Japanese family restaurants that helps conserve biodiversity in rice patties and then serving that rice to patrons of the restaurants.  The Living Things Friendly Rice Paddies project also offers hands-on experience, demonstrations for enhancing biodiversity and both the sharing and creation of techniques for sustainable farming (that also offers profit) and increased biodiversity. Recycling News

-- Quote of the Day --  "We don’t accomplish anything in this world alone… and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life and all the weavings of individual threads from one to another that creates something." ~ Sandra Day O’connor -- Positive News --  Kudos to Chiba (a city in Japan) who has achieved the highest rate of recycling in the country of Japan.  At 31.4% they are more than 5% ahead of the next 2 top recycling cities.  Congratulations to this city for their success!   http://brummet.ca/store.html   Find Dave and Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their books, their radio program, blog, and more at: http://brummet.ca * Support the Brummets by telling your friends, clicking those social networking buttons, or visiting the Brummet's Store - and help raise funds for charity as well!

Recycling Rare Materials

-- Quote of the Day --  “Delegating is a huge success strategy; if you are not willing to delegate you can only get to a certain level of success – you have to be willing to open your hand and hand off some of the things in it otherwise your hand is always full and you aren’t able to take on anything else. …We began giving the staff a bonus if they could keep me off the floor, so that I could run the business from the office. …It is critically important that you continue to grow because what worked 5 years ago is not likely going to work now. …With the cycle of success, how life works: setting a goal and making progress toward the goal the likely hood is that we are going to get stuck along the way. …The process is progress, progress, stuck and unstuck again. So if you can shorten the process between stuck and unstuck it will increase your production in life, you’ll be happier, and provide a better service to the public.” ~ Marnie Sweberg ...

Bio Fuel & Business

-- Quote of the Day -- “Leadership depends on the people who report to you – the majority of the people who report to don’t enjoy their job. …75% of workers today fall into two categories: 1) being not engaged at work – and 2) actively not engaged at work. The people in the first category can be identified as clock-watchers. The other group is actively destructive at work; costing 3 billion dollars of lost revenue in the US. …25% of the people like their job, they are excited and creative at work – they have the opportunity to utilize what they love at work. …You have to care about the employee. …95% of happy executives will take a call from a recruiter today, 90% of those executives will leave their your organization in 30 days for an opportunity to contribute more. So you have to provide an environment …that will give them the opportunity to do what they love to do.” ~ Derrick Miles Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Ra...

Humus As A Fuel Source?

-- Quote of the Day -- "The way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear and get a record of the successful experiences behind you. Destiny  is not a matter of chance - it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved." ~ William Bryan -- Positive Eco-News -- I learned from the Japan for Sustainability Organization   ( japanfs.org ) that the Ajinomoto Co ., a major Japanese food and seasonings manufacturer, produces a lot of wast humus – a pulp-like waste product from processing soybeans.  This humus is dried and can provide the same BTU as coal, but the bonus lies in that is it carbon-neutral. Therefore the company decided to make arrangements with the Kawasaki Biomass Power Station , who are now using this “waste” item as a valuable fuel source. Solar Power

-- Quote of the Day -- “ People are healthier when they disclose their secrets to a journal – incredible research shows that… you will have fewer visits to the doctor, better blood pressure and heart rate, better lymphocyte counts to help you fight illness. …I love the idea that books are sprouting up everywhere… but in the end, the writing the book is really the reward; it is really the process that is important. …We have the potential to reach millions of people with positive messages and I think that is really exciting. ”  ~ Claudia Ricci  Today's quote originated from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show titled: Writing & Happiness - which aired back on Feb 10.  *Access the full discussion via either of the links above.  -- Chatter -- After a week of having the office set in a tiny messy corner of the house while some drywall & painting went on, I'm finally back in the office again. Whew  - what a mess drywall dust is! Well, i...

Book Talk & Hearts of Sorrow

-- Quote of the Day --   “ I know it is incredibly difficult (when  you are diagnosed with an illness), but you must not allow it to take over  – you cannot allow that to take over your every waking thought, or it wins. The diagnosis is not “you”, the disease does not define you. …It sounds like an impossible thing to do, but I know it can be done. …Just staying really positive (can help people in these situations).  That person does not need to see that you are feeling sorry for them, just love the heck out of them – sometimes it is better to say nothing at all, just being there can make the difference.  Laughter is so important, try to keep it as light and as loving as you can, because that energy gets transferred over to the one who is ill. " ~ Kim Malchuck  Today's quote originates from the interview: How Cancer Saved a Life that aired back on Feb 3, 2011. Check out this archived show via the hyper-linked title above. -- Condolences...
