Product Review

-- Product Review -- Dave and I have a huge passion to explore nature; just being in the presence of nature is such a healing process for us. Thankfully we live in Southeastern BC (Canada) where we are surrounded by parks, lakes and mountains. In addition to this most of the old railway tracks that are no longer in use have been converted into trail systems – having old tracks and most of the boards and debris removed, they are hard packed and easy for bicycles to travel on. Sometimes a little bumpy, occasional sections of loose gravel, but mostly they are easy to peddle on and have very little grade variance. The stunning views are certainly worth it. Being passionate about green living we also try to walk or use our bikes to do small shopping trips or quick stops in town. So when we were approached by E -Cycling Store to review some of their fantastic cycling wear I was absolutely thrilled. In fact, I was in need for padded shorts this year, so th...

Discovering Unconscious Beliefs; Proactive Heroes

-- Quote of the Day -- “… After beginning to meditate, it became very clear to me that I could stay on a psychological emotional realm forever, because the mind will constantly produce problems, thoughts that bother us and on and on and on. And the only way to get off that wheel is to learn how to contemplate and meditate and go within to our own inner wisdom. …Focusing on what does not work only reinforces the issue if it is a repetitive thought however if our negative belief is unconscious to us, that is - we don’t know what they are, it will cause us to repeat the action again and again and again. …You are not focusing on a negative belief you are digging up and discovering the unconscious beliefs. …Repetitive patterns are creating a negative reality. …If it is not working, then that means we are being run by our unconscious mind .” ~ Sheila Radha - May 21, ’09 Today's quote is excerpted from an conversation with Sheila Radha on the Conscious Discussions radio show about how we...

Inspiring Caring & Sustainable Communities

-- Announcements -- Dave & Lillian's book Purple Snowflake Marketing was featured on Holly's Great Authors page: http://hollydfarlee.webs.com/greatauthors.htm *This book will be released in a revised, updated 2nd edition in the very near future. -- Eco & Conscious Living Events -- Today, June 2nd, is Clean Air Day & Hunger Awareness Day (Canada). Incidentally all week long, June 2-8, we'll be celebrating Bike to Work Week . In our small city we are fully aware of the limitations for cycling. Few safe lanes for cyclists, narrow side streets... busy highway and long open sections of road ways with no shade from summer heat. However, the city staff has greatly improved many of the bike friendly parks and the Trans Canada Trail (made on the former railway track beds) also runs through the city and has been greatly improved as well. Tree planting is encouraged every spring in the daily newspaper's gardening segment and many community groups have done planting...

Bicycle & environment celebrations

-- Canadian Environment Week & Bicycle Month !!! -- June is officially Bicycle Month , a great time to take the family bicycles in to your local repair shop for tuning and repairs to make the outdoor experience more enjoyable. Alternatively look for a youth group, high school or college that has bicycle repair classes - these alternatives may provide a more budget friendly alternative for today's economic climate. All week long here in Canada, from June 1st through to June 7th, we celebrate Canadian Environment Week . In honor of this I wanted to share some inspiring community actions that have happened in the last year here locally. Several times over the last year Dave and I have witnessed groups of youth walking around the streets in the downtown area armed with bags and cleaning up as they went. We could all learn from this selfless act. Did you know that wind and traffic-caused breezes carry waste from inland to waterways (creeks, rivers, oceans, bogs, etc)? Astoundingly,...
-- Quote of the Day -- Re: equality & a healthy society “ …These (Super-Sized Cycles brand) bikes can hold up to 550lbs. …The tricycles are great for older clients (and those with physical limitations) they might have had a stroke or something… so these are very safe, you don’t have to worry about balance. …Electric assist bikes means that there is a motor to carry the rider, but you also peddle. It is more of a regular, consistent workout – and you ride faster. …1/3 of the United State’s population is obese, another 1/3 are overweight – and this is similar to most English speaking countries… even in countries where you wouldn’t necessarily think because they are not necessarily well off. …There is a huge problem with the overweight in this world …I am concerned with assisting these people to live the life that they have got. …I think it is so important for us to be able to do what a non-heavy person can do. …I think people don’t realize the ways in which fat people are discrimin...
