Kudo's to citizen science

Here is a great example of how citizen science projects really do have a powerful impact.  Recently we celebrated Global Bird Weekend, which sparked several hundred thousand events for people to enjoy. It was also a great opportunity for the many successful fundraising activities for thousands of nonprofits.  Events like this help bring awareness to the amazing work that volunteers and nonprofits are doing, the impact they are having and to play a small role in supporting their efforts. Participants leave with a renewed sense of appreciation for the diversity found in nature. However events like this also offer a great opportunity for the science community to collaborate with everyday citizens to gather valuable data.  During the Global Bird Weekend a new world record was made when participants from over 200 countries volunteered to spend some time looking for birds armed with a pair of binoculars. Global Bird Weekend

Today, communities across the globe are celebrating this phenomenal International event: Global Bird Weekend There are a hundred-thousand or more organizations across the planet that are hosting festivals, education and awareness events, webinars, seminars and fundraisers.  There are literally thousands and thousands of ways you can participate:  Submitting bird-themed poetry and articles to their publications. Subscribing to their podcasts, channels or newsletters. Become a member of their organization. Share posts about the organization's activities on your Socials (FaceBook, etc.) Attend the organization's tours and other events. Enter the photo contests. Record bird sounds. Join in the numerous citizen science projects available to you through these organizations. Donate to, or volunteer with, your local nature conservation organization.
