Product Review

-- Feng Shui Wind Chimes, Review --  I was thrilled to hear from Kara Fillion of Uncommon Goods - an online retailer that endeavors to feature unique designs and handcrafted products to a broad audience , while raising funds for a variety of charities through the Better to Give  charitable program. This unique program allows their customers to choose a charity at checkout for the company to make a $1 donation to. In just 12 years UncommonGoods.com has raised over $300,000 for several charities including RAINN (an anti-sexual violence organization with programs to prevent violence and help survivors in the healing journey), American Forests (works to protect and restore forests across the globe), Women For Women Int . Natural Soap Bars, review

-- Product Review -- Knowing the renowned properties of hemp oil, which is rich in a balanced ratio of EFA fats, many different vitamins and protein, and being good for sensitive dry skin, I was excited to try the Wholly Hemp 4 oz (118.3 ml) soap bars. Besides being based on hydrating organic hemp oil and shea butter, this soap is infused with essential oils. Ingredients vary depending on the type of bar you choose but can include: different combinations of hemp, coconut, pam, sunflower, peppermint, orange, lavender and lemon oils and rosemary extract. As such the Wholly Hemp products actually work quite nicely with skin ailments from acne to eczema and dermatitis or psoriasis. This is a wholly sustainable product since the company really cares about where their ingredients come from, how they are grown and harvested, and the social impact they have on that area. After visiting their site I learned that the company also donates up to 25% of their profits to chariti...

Internet Safety, Shopping Safety

-- Conscious Discussions -- Sue Scheff joined me today on Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show to talk about the Internet - A Dangerous Asset . In this interesting discussion we explored common terms like: cybyer-sticks and cyber-stones, cyber stalking, hacking, social networking, & email spam . We also learned some tips on how to make sure you know what is happening with your name, business or product online. Just recently I was listening to an interview with an amazing blogger who created a full-time business out of his blogging efforts within a year of starting out… with no prior experience. Tales like this are enticing more and more traffic online with hopes of networking, creating friends or getting the word out about their products and services. Yet there is also a lot of fear. We often hear about Facebook and Myspace horror stories, even a Twitter site from a writer-friend of mine was hacked for a short time… We might also have concerns about shopping online, providing in...

Green Living & Resources

-- Quote of the Day -- “… Green product purchasing doesn’t mean we encourage over consumption – but there are products that you do need and we help to direct people to better choices… than just the mainstream products that we may be used to. …Often people would tell me ‘this is a green product’ but I would be wondering WHY that product was green. …We do a number of things to green our shipping we default to ground shipping because it is the most efficient per order. We use 100% reclaimed boxes and packaging materials (from neighbors, friends, companies) and use that for our shipping. We also purchase carbon offsets for the shipping involved in purchasing on BuyGreen.com . And actually – there have been studies that show how shopping online can actually reduce one’s carbon footprint. …Going green doesn’t have to be done all at once; it can be done one step at a time .” ~ Allison Huke Sept 15 – 2009 Today's quote was excerpted from a fascinating interview with Allison Huke in wh...
