Technology & Mankind

-- Quote of the Day -- "Think on this doctrine:  That reasoning beings were created for one another's sake;  That to be patient is a branch of justice,  and that men sin without intending it."  ~ Marcus Aelius Aurelius -- Positive News --  Technological advances in the transportation industry is happening almost daily, focusing on fuel conservation, alternative power sources, better efficiency, and even recycled content. Time & Patience; Organics in the Landfill

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Time and patience are the greatest healers .” ~ author unknown -- Positive Eco-News -- From the Zero Waste San Diego Group: A new bill has passed that will enable cities to divert as much as 67 percent of their landfill mass through keeping organics in a composting system instead. Much of the organics being put into the system will come from hotels, restaurants, grocery stores and cafes. Other large contributors are everyday kitchen and yard waste from the residential contributions and city landscaping industry. The government is enforcing this through fines for municipalities that do not comply to the new regulations. In the short term there will need to be some investment into new waste management technology but in the long term the benefits are more than obvious and will also apply to the city’s budget improvements through the improved systems.
