Positive News As you already know, I'm always on the look out for inspiring happenings that I can share on this blog - there is so much good going on across the planet... and every single effort deserves to be celebrated! Those listed below... well, they are special.  -         Brazil has reduced the rate of deforestation by 70% in the last 10 years. It is also rehabilitating degraded land. -         Ethiopia is aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030 – they are investing clean energy, rehabilitation of land, planting trees and sustainable forest management. -          London - a city known as “smoke” and “smog” in the 1950’s because the pollution was so thick it was like being in a cloud of smoke - has become a city with clear, cleaner air enjoyed most days of the year. They accomplished this via many projects including commute investments and a huge reduction of coal power. ...

Recommended Resources As I’m sure you’ve noticed, when it comes to Recommended Resource posts on my blog I do tend to group 3 resources of similar topic together. As such I keep a file going where I can quickly past URL’s and such under quick reference headings like “nature”, “youth”, etc. This one was hard to define… is it technology, design, nature, gardening, pollution, agriculture? All of the above. -- Thoughts on Global Citizenship --  I’ve been chatting quite a bit about different ways of proactively participating as a global citizen. Let me dig a little deeper here offering you a few stats and a discussion on some things we can consider doing about it. For instance: Did you know that about 410,000 plastic cups are produced as waste by the airline industry every 15 minutes? Something to think about. How many of us have used cell phones, cords, out of date electronics and kitchen appliances we no longer use laying around? According to lecture I was listening to earlier this year, 152 million cell phones are thrown out every year and only 11% of these are recycled.   Some of the remaining may have been donated somewhere. Most are sitting in junk drawers and the like.
