Wind Power

-- Quote of the Day -- "When it’s all over, it’s now who you were. It’s whether you made a difference." ~ Bob Dole -- Wind Power --    Wind power is fast becoming a more reliable and efficient form of clean energy, and major structures are now using this technology.  Enco , for instance, (a Dutch sustainable energy corporation), has signed a contract with all the electric trains owned by Nederlandse Spoorwegen … by 2018 more than 1.2 million passengers will be able to travel with zero impact.    Find Dave and Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their books, their radio program, blog, and more at: http://brummet.ca * Support the Brummets by telling your friends, clicking those social networking buttons, or visiting the Brummet's Store - and help raise funds for charity as well!

Green Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- “…Wind is very special; for the 21 st century we are going to have to have different kinds of renewable energy. …Wind is a force of nature; it is completely renewable, it is potentially available 24/7 - 365 days a year. …Many governments are recognizing the important contributions of wind as a source of providing all our energy needs. It is a possible dominate provider of meeting all of our energy needs. …There are 3 reasons why this is possible – #1: We have huge inefficiencies in how energy is being provided, as high as 70% of the energy is lost (in transportation) before you finally get it. #2: We need greater conservation, a huge amount of waste by the consumer. …#3: is to encourage the adaptation of these new technologies so that they become mainstream.”   ~ Sharolyn Vettese of Wind Simplicity  * Access the full discussion via: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/consciousdiscussions/2011/12/01/wind-power Find Dave an...

Referral Corner

-- Quote of the Day -- "The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it." ~ Albert Einstein -- Referral Corner -- Many of you are familiar with this section of our blog... this is where you can find interesting and informative recommended resources for living a positive, proactive life. Wind Simplicity: According to their site - “ Most wind turbines are based on 30-year-old technology and it was time for a change, ” says Dr Mathieu, Wind Simplicity President and Inventor. “ There was definitely a niche for wind turbines no greater than 100 kW that would be more adaptable to different locations. The Windancer is different to Megawatt wind turbines. Although the Windancer is smaller, it’s much more efficient than those models .”  Info : http://www.windsimplicity.ca The Heroes Project: This organization works very hard to change public perception and ...

Power the House

Compareelectricityrates.com wrote us with some really nice comments about our work her on the blog. they also wanted to offer the following article for our readers, which I'm certain you will enjoy.  10 Cool Ways to Provide Power to Your House  Electricity is something most people take for granted and don’t really have any idea how it’s generated. They just flip a light switch or plug into an outlet and pay the monthly bills for the service. This is amazing considering the fact that people lived without electricity for thousands of years. Even though we’ve only had this luxury for less than 200 years, most of us would have a hard time living without it. If something catastrophic happened or if you just want to live “off the grid”, what are some cool ways to provide the power you need for your own home? Solar – If you live in an area with plentiful sunshine, solar panels would be a likely source to consider. There has been extensive res...

Happiness & Alternative Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- “There is no duty we so underrate as the duty of being happy.  By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.”  ~ Robert Louis Stevenson ...This quote has me thinking of high-energy joy-filled folks that I've known that are reaching toward retirement age, or are retired, and have this boundless energy for life. People like Aunt Wanda and Uncle Gary, Hildegard, Barry and Bruce, Dave and Leslie... and others whose age is no barrier to happiness in and excitement for life. The way these people live their lives actually inspires hope in others, helping us see our lives differently. So many in this world become exhausted and bruised by life and lose enthusiasm for participating and finding joy, which perpetuates the fear of what age and the future will bring for those around them. We are blessed to have known several shining, positive influences that have influenced the way we perceive this life.  -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio -...

Alternative Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- " The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself ." ~ Mark Caine -- Alternative Energy -- Wind power definitely holds promise as one of the leading alternative energies being employed across the globe. There have been all kinds of innovations from learning how high they should be, what color they need to be, and how fast the blades turn - in order to have a safe co-existence with flying creatures and the voracious human need for land. Just recently I learned of a wind turbine that can fold as much as 90 degrees - preventing damage from strong winds, such as typhoons. A few weeks ago I had a discussion with an inventor on our radio show who was saying that this kind of damage, depending on the area, might be prevented with redesigning the shape of the blade, and having it automatically turn sideways, rather than facing a strong wind.  -- Did You Know?? -- Did you kno...

polystyrene recycling & solar technology

-- Recommended Resource -- http://www.solarbotanic.com - SolarBotanic’s work focuses on artificial trees that make use of renewable energy from the sun and wind, they are an efficient, clean and environmentally sound means of collecting solar radiation and wind energy. SolarBotanic Nanoleaves are able to pick up any light, from the visible spectrum to the invisible spectrum, Infrared light, while producing millions and millions of Pico watts day in day out. -- Polystyrene Recycling -- Of course the best way to reduce or consumption of polystyrene (commonly referred to as "styrofoam" and "packaging peanuts") is to avoid the use of it all together. There are many packaging alternatives that are light and affordable for shipping needs, we can choose to use reusable or compostable disposable cutlery, plates and drink cups, we can bring our own container from home when visiting restaurants - rather than asking for their "to-go" container you can use your own....
