World of Writing, Interview #34

-- Chatter -- Well, I'd like to start off today by saying thanks for letting me take a few days off this month - I feel much better. My house is clean, laundry mostly done and my head is relatively clear and ready for the next bout of To-Do's in the office. It has been snowing lightly the last few days - although it is a bright sunny morning right  now, there is almost 2 inches of white covering the ground right now. Not quite enough to break out the snowshovels ...just yet. -- Brummet's in the Media --   http://www.keybusinesspartners.com/blog - drop by this blog to find the interview with Lillian Brummet about the World of Writing! - host Terese Morrow     -- World of Writing -- We love to feature other writers on our blog - today is the 34th World of Writing Interview that we have done so far. Chit-chatter

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Reaction is something that happens automatically, you are not thinking about it. …You can change that and it is really not that difficult but first we must become aware of it. Before we can improve our life and really live it to the fullest we really need to become aware of the area we are not happy with… and we need to take full responsibility for ourselves – and only ourselves .” Striving for Purpose - Barbara Hofmeister –Oct 3 Today's quote was taken from the Striving for Purpose interview that aired back on Oct 3 via the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show - click on the hyper-linked show title to access this interview, or look to the sidebars on this blog for recently aired episodes. -- Chatter -- As many of you are already aware, I try to take 3 days in a row off from the office each month... - not an easy task when the office is located in the home. So today is one of the two days that I can afford to take off, the first in nearly 45...

Plastics in the Recycling System

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Trees are very important as well, so when I say that 70% of the oxygen that is produced on the planet comes from the ocean – it is not the ocean itself, it is the phytoplankton. …40% of the world’s supply is dependent on the oceans. ...what is being done today? The garbage is still being open-burned in an open pit. …All of that garbage ends up in the landfills where it leaks out and ends up in our food supply, in our lakes and streams… and where does it end up after? The ocean is the lowest water table - so everything flows there.  …The key is education .” Reef rescue Foundation – Dirk Beckman, sept 30   This quote was taken from a Conscious Discussions Talk radio show interview that aired back on Sept 30th, 2010... check out the Reef Rescue Foundation interview via the hyper-linked show title - or check out the list of archives on our site: www.brummet.ca - or look to the side bars on this blog for more recently aired episodes.   -...

Eco-friendly Holidays

-- Quote of the Day -- Re: helping impoverished or traumatized communities (from war, drought, deforestation, etc). “ We look at what the assets and talents the community has and help them prioritize their needs. …Women’s empowerment is a big part of this and a financial incentive. …Giving people the economic freedom so that they no longer have to sell firewood for a living and they can put some of their energies instead into reforestation… attending meetings and learn [biodynamic gardening], sustainable agriculture, etc. …The poor become agents in their country… they have planted something like 5 million trees to date. …They are taking the leadership in environmental renewal .”   ~ Scott Sabin, of Plant with Purpose Organization Today's quote of the day originated from a Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show interview that aired back on Sept 23 titled: Plant With Purpose Org .  Click on the hyper-linked show title to listen to the interview, or look to the side...

human & animal rights

-- Conscious Living Events -- Today is the annual celebration of the International Day for Tolerance , which began back in 1995, sparked by the creation of the United Nation's Year for Tolerance , and celebrations officially began in 1996. This day was set aside to promote awareness of the dangers of intolerance. The importance of this awareness day is explained by the following excerpt from the UN's Declaration of Principles on Tolerance :  " Resolving to take all positive measures necessary to promote tolerance in our societies, because tolerance is not only a cherished principle, but also a necessity for peace and for the economic and social advancement of all peoples ."  Education seems to be the key to peaceful living and includes understanding our rights, developing empathy for others, and countering hateful information that influences fear, judgment or violent behavior.
