Seeking Happiness

-- Quote of the Day --    "When we are angry or depressed in our creativity, we have misplaced our power. We have allowed someone else to determine our worth, and then we are angry at being undervalued."  ~ Julia Cameron     -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio -- Erika Oliver is joining us today on the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show – she is the award-winning author of at least 4 books, and she hosts workshops within this genre of seeking happiness in life as well. Today we are going to learn about counteracting negative thinking and negative conversations. We are also going to learn some tips for people on the front line of illness such as nurses and caregivers. As a Positive Approach Coach - and recovering pessimist - Erika tells me she is all about saving personal energy and that through speaking, training, and coaching she is able to help people choose a positive approach to family, co-worker relationships, personal health. World of Writing

-- Chatter -- Well, this time of the month is a bit of a crunch in that I'll spend the next 3 days buried in the office doing the behind the scenes preparations for the upcoming Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show episodes airing in August. The Brummet's Muse newsletter is also due to go out on the 15th, so the office work will be heavy for a few days, and I beg the patience of all the people emailing, etc - we'll be back to normal after the 15th :)  Towards the end of next month we'll have some changes both to our website and the newsletter will also undergo some changes, so watch for those announcements. We'll also have another contest coming up on this blog in August... Lots of informative guests coming on the blog... So much, really, is going on this Summer and into Fall - which is pretty exciting for us since we've been planning and working on this for so long - and of course we'll let you know about each of these as they come about...

Plastic Recycling and our Economy

-- Quote of the Day -- " Character isn't inherited. One builds it daily by the way one thinks and acts, thought by thought, action by action. If one lets fear or hate or anger take possession of the mind, they become self-forged chains ." ~ Helen Douglas -- Positive Eco-News -- According to the Association of Post-consumer Plastic Recyclers record high bale prices clearly indicate that recycled plastic materials remains a hot commodity.  This national trade association represents companies who acquire, reprocess and sell the output of more than 90% of the post-consumer plastic processing capacity in North America.  Founded in 1992, its membership includes independent recycling companies of all sizes, processing numerous resins. Their site -   www.plasticsrecycling.org   - tells us that there are more than 1800 North American businesses involved in recycling plastics and they rely heavily on household curbside plastic container recycling... onc...

Power the House

Compareelectricityrates.com wrote us with some really nice comments about our work her on the blog. they also wanted to offer the following article for our readers, which I'm certain you will enjoy.  10 Cool Ways to Provide Power to Your House  Electricity is something most people take for granted and don’t really have any idea how it’s generated. They just flip a light switch or plug into an outlet and pay the monthly bills for the service. This is amazing considering the fact that people lived without electricity for thousands of years. Even though we’ve only had this luxury for less than 200 years, most of us would have a hard time living without it. If something catastrophic happened or if you just want to live “off the grid”, what are some cool ways to provide the power you need for your own home? Solar – If you live in an area with plentiful sunshine, solar panels would be a likely source to consider. There has been extensive res...

Old Stuff = Great Stuff

-- Quote of the Day -- "We have arrived at a new phase in human history where a certain part of the world’s population are in a state of almost forced consumerism – feed by massive marketing budgets and a willing and compliant media and where the economy is based not on real indicators of wealth but on how much we consume.  Where predatory businesses practices ...and long wasteful supply chains where quality and repair-ability and reuse-ability have been replaced by the notion that it’s cheaper to buy a new one than keep and fix the old one" *Excerpted from a letter written by Warren Snow via the Zero Waste San Diego Group . Warren happens to have been an international speaker at CRRA 2003 in Oakland where he represented the ZWIA and Zero Waste New Zealand organization s. World of Writing !

-- Quote of the Day -- “[Writing as a therapy] you just write, without thinking, as fast as you can. …This writing serves two purposes. Number one, you are purging, you are vomiting your feelings and …you have released them and that is healing in itself. …The second thing is that many times when you try to think about what is bothering you - you can’t access it, but if you do this kind of writing and then read it back you may get some awareness of where the real problems are.”   ~ Karen Sherman Today's quote was excerpted from the Living Fully Aware interview that aired back on April 26 via the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show. *Access the full interview via the hyper-linked show title above. -- World of Writing -- As many of our readers are already aware, we enjoy featuring World of Writing interviews on this blog...
