Reducing Waste

-- Reducing Waste -- Here’s something we can all do to reduce the amount of “waste” we are contributing to the recycling and landfill systems by considering the reuse or repurpose potential of each item.  First, take a moment to jot down any local program, group, or class that may utilize "waste" items.  For instance: school art and sewing classes, kindergarten and preschool groups, daycares, youth groups, art and design programs at universities, sewing groups, or check out the the local recreation center and family centers… These places are often in need of items for their art projects.  We can support their efforts, helping extend their budgets by offering them our “waste”.  Everything from glass bottles and plastic containers, to cloth scraps and rags, egg cartons, coat hangers, magazines… buttons, bits and pieces of ribbon, wrapping paper, paper bags… and more. Simply go online and using your favorite search...

Business & Leadership Ethics

-- Quote of the Day -- "We find greatest joy, not in getting, but in expressing what we are...Men do not really live for honors or for pay; their gladness is not the taking and holding, but in doing, the striving, the building, the living. It is a higher joy to teach than to be taught. It is good to get justice, but better to do it; fun to have things but more to make them. The happy man is he who lives the life of love, not for the honors it may bring, but for the life itself."  ~ R. J. Baughan -- Businesses Making a Difference --  Yesterday we featured a discussion on how businesses can make a difference with their work, their purchasing habits and their actions in their community... I'd like to follow up on this by celebrating yet another business that cares about the planet and works very hard to make in-house decisions that affect us all in a positive way: Kudos to Zukes.com who has pr...
