World of Writing, Interviews

-- Quote of the Day --  “… I loved the idea of creating a world and characters that people can relate to and a lot of times we can tell emotional truths in a fictional way that you can’t tell in reality. In reality I think people hide a lot of things, but in fiction it allows the writer and reader to explore those deeper emotions than they would otherwise. …I usually a beginning and an end in my head of where I want the story to go; but during the writing the characters sort of take the story where they want to go. I’ll allow a certain amount of flexibility – maybe a certain character that I thought would do one thing, ends up doing something else because as you are writing you get to know the characters better. …it is much more cheaper, and greener to start with an e-book first (before going into print) and that is where most of your money will come in from. …I think writers can impact the world in so many ways. For myself, I focus on wildlife conservation, environ...

Changing the World

-- Quote of the Day -- “Every successful, happy person will confirm  that the main reason for their success  is that they are doing what they love to do.  …Work is too often viewed as punishment  – because of this attitude,  we don’t do our jobs with dignity  and we refuse to discover ways to make our work challenging and enjoyable.  If you are going to strive for true happiness,  you have to change your attitude toward work.”  ~ Darrell Knoch; Mastering a Healthy Self-image    -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio --   Sign up via itunes for the Conscious Discussions Radio show: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id262138144   Burt Berlowe is an award-winning author and journalist who specializes in writing and publishing the stories of ordinary people involved in social change. Narcissistic Society

-- Quote of the Day --  “…We are moving away from relationships each other and towards relationships with objects and creatures that do not create pain in our lives – because we move away from pain and towards pleasure. …We all want to be valued and in our relationships in this culture people feel anxious, nervous, and distracted – 50% of the time people are not even paying attention to what they are doing. …Changing behavior goes against everything we have done to stay safe – the limbic system is the emotional, reactive brain part. The brain wave of the child is taking in information, absorbing everything – once we go through puberty our brain changes to Beta. …It is all about autonomy, self-governing, of being in control of our lives. …When we start talking in terms of ‘should’ we are judging; that you are not smart, you are not being appropriate, that you are not good enough. …Our culture is narcissistic - We are more concerned with what I think, what am I ...
