recycling & writer interview

-- Positive News --  Many of you know that I am very passionate about recycling as one of the easiest and most economic ways of making this planet a healtier, more sustainable place. According to GreenStar.com 2 million tons of recycled items reduces the amount of carbon emissions by 6/1 million metric tons - which is equivalent to removing 1.2 million cars off our roads, or the energy used by 180,000 homes, or 6 million barrels of oil.  In fact, did you know that if we throw out a tin can - it is the same as lighting a match to one cup of gasoline? That is how much fuel is consumed in creating that tin can, but recycling it we interrupt the cycle and reduce the wasted fuel and materials.  By recycling we are not harvesting minerals or forests and other raw materials - instead we are reusing those materials harvested in the past. Recycling also reduces how much material is sent to the landfill - helping to extend the life of those landfills that already e...

-- Quote of the Day -- “You have to look at your business model is. If you are a speaker and you are going to be selling books at the back of the room, of course you are going to want to self-publish. If you are writing a novel, you may want to utilize an agent that specializes in novels. …If you don’t get an agent or a publisher right away, don’t be afraid to put your book out as an e-book. …If you believe in yourself, just do it.” ~ Antoinette Kuritz Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on … titled: World of Writing   (*Click on the title to access the full discussion)     -- World of Writing, Interview --   ...

Planet Connections

-- Quote of the Day --  “Be aware that we are interconnected: what I do to you, you do to somebody else and it will eventually reverberate back to me. …For some people (change) is just a little blip and for others it is a smack in the head. …When you are in high school everyone is going through adolescence together. With midlife we are feeling alone, and we are dealing with hormonal changes too. For women, you might go through it at 35 or I might go through it at 60. Women often go through a shake up phase in their thirties, and then menopause later on. For men 40-50 is their time. – we get this wake up call at several points in our lives where we ask the big why questions; why am I hear, etc. …Sometimes you want to change but you are afraid of change; the best way to get over fear is to get into action. You face your fear and it just blows away. Question your fear; a lot of times we take on other people’s fears.” Franki Picasso ...
