Green Product Review

-- Product Review --  When Sean Harris connected with me about reviewing his Handi Hanger product (http://www.handihanger.com), I was immediately intrigued by it. As our readers are already aware, I am passionate about steps to zero waste and reuse is a huge part of this.   The Handi Hanger arrived only 19 days after communicating with Sean about this project in a small, protected envelope. I loved that there was hardly any packaging associated with the shipping, and what little there was, could be recycled. Similarly the product itself utilizes minimum packaging - a thin cardboard backing with a small amount of shrink plastic holding it in place. Thankfully both these are recyclable as well. The Original HandiHanger is an earth friendly, money saving device that allows us to recycle plastic shopping bags.  Depending on how the product is used this can also mean we can save on wasting money spent on new garbage bags.  ...

Driving Your Life

-- Quote of the Day --  “If you don’t have a routine then the little things that you need to do to manage your life and keep your life in balance can call through the cracks. …There’s this philosophy to do what is simple and easy first – just clear the decks with what you can do easily and simply and then work up to the things that take more time. …it is amazing how much stuff is easy to attend to and then you get this sensation of accomplishment …of not allowing yourself to get overwhelmed. …Your body is like a rental car – it doesn’t get on the freeway and drive where it wants to, it goes where the consciousness drives it. It is giving you the results it is giving you because that is what it thinks you want from it, and what you are giving your attention to.” ~ Vaishali Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Dec 20… titled: Simple Steps to Better Health   (*Click on the title to acces...

Recycling 101

-- Recycling 101 - - * Today's post was submitted to us via Tiffany Olson, the communications Manager for OptimizeWorldwide (http://optimizehere.co) Tiffany resides in a small-ish town in the northern portion of California. She loves to travel, to read, to laugh, and to enjoy the beauty of her surroundings. By day she works at a small (but growing) web company. Her job is to educate people on many fun topics including recycling centers in Redding . Isn’t that fun?!   I think by now we all know that recycling is important. Our carbon footprint makes a huge impact on our environment, and with limited natural resources, it’s important for us to be good stewards of the world in which we live. Plus, regardless of how socially responsible you are, every day it becomes easier and easier to recycle. Inconvenience is no longer an excuse not to do your part. Recycling containers are typically provided as part of local waste management. Many restaurants, businesses, ...

Rainwater collection

-- Quote of the Day --    --> “Money tends to represent our worth, our lovability - is the #1 excuse for everything we cannot have or be. …The root cause is our relationship with money. …I was asked me two questions: what had happened with money growing up. …And he asked me if money was a person, who would your money be? …Suddenly my whole life made sense; I could see that if I was at an event and this big scary biker was there, I would have my eye on him all the time so that I could create the greatest distance from him. …Suddenly I saw money as a relationship, it was deeper then an idea.”  ~ Morgana Rae Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Dec 18… titled: Can Money Love You Too  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Positive News -- Back on March 9 we published an article that was submitted to us re: w...

Water Conservation Tips Helen Davies is a writer for   Better Bathrooms , who sell good-looking contemporary and traditional   bathrooms at realistic prices. * A special note of appreciation to Becky Franks of Better Bathrooms as well.  http://www.consciousdiscussions.blogspot.co.uk/ Save water, save money. Let's be honest, our utility bills aren't going to come down by themselves any time soon, and every day we're made more aware of our need to use water more efficiently. More than half of the water we use each day is in the bathroom and over 24% of a household-heating bill is from heating hot water. Fortunately, there are now a huge number of bathroom products and tips available, which will help you to dramatically reduce your water, use and save you money; here are five of the best: Reduced capacity baths The average household bath has the capacity to contain over 80 litres of water, that’s almost double the water you would use w...
