Recycling News

-- Quote of the Day --  “ We put together an organization to provide the availability of goods and services that people would need if they want to stay in their own home as they get older.  …The children are able to join the organization so they can learn what their parents are going through or will go through as the aging process continues. …The kids can monitor what mom and dad are doing – for example we can monitor the oven range so that the child will know when a burner is turned on and if it is on for a half hour, the monitor will say something like ‘Hey Dad it is time to turn off the oven’, or ‘Hey Dad it is time to take  your medicine’ …without invading the privacy of the adult. …we have speakers come in to talk about what they can expect. …We have (in the US) 10,000 people retiring every day!” ~ David Willis Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on June 25… titled: ...

Business & Writing Advice

-- Quote of the Day --    “Critics are by no means the end of the law. Do not think all is over with you because your articles are rejected. It may be that the editor has his drawer full, or that he does not know enough to appreciate you, or you have not gained a reputation or that he is not in a mood to be pleased.”  ~ Lavina Goodell -- Brummet's In the Media -- Join me over at Ignite Your Productivity podcast radio show hosted by Cathy Sexton for a discussion offering tips on staying organized and the importance of follow up activities in the office. Product Review

-- Product Review -- When I first learned of the products offered by MeasuredEdge.com through Jordan Hackney, the interesting shapes and stylized text and measurements burned into wooden rulers immediately intrigued me.  The original connection with Jordon was back on Oct. 29 th and I received the product on November 18 th in regular mail. One of the first things I noticed was that both the shipping container and on the interior packaging also had stylized text burned into them, and were made of recyclable cardboard.  The ruler that I received was of an interesting knife ($9.95 US) design that really does look like a large hunting knife and with the text – May Your Blade Strike True – burned on the packaging. However my husband noticed right away that there is no mark for where the 0 should start. So we took out one of our other rulers and sure enough, the spot where the 0 should start is actually not part of the ruler – there fore if you use...

How to upgrade a home. (Part 2)

In response to a lot of questions we've received, I thought I would write a series of articles (3) to answer your interest in how to go about greening a home and yard. We have been on this property for 3 years as of Oct 15, 2013. So I thought the best way to go about sharing what we did was to describe the order we did things in, one year at a time.   * Part 1 of this article was  published on January 2nd ; Part 3 will be published on January 12th How we made changes and upgrades to our home.  (Part 2) In the first part of the series I walked you through the first year of our move to the home we are in now. Today we'll look at the 2nd year and the things we did to improve the home and property. Year 2: October 15, 2011 – October 15, 2012   The 2 nd year here we were involved with projects that would reduce our water use including installing low flow faucets and shower-heads and replacing one...

ways to recycle

More Ways to Recycle * Today's article was written by: Sam Jones writes on environmental and green energy issues. He keeps an eye on energy suppliers and the cheapest electricity prices and to give his readers the latest information and offer There are plenty of signs and advertisements that urge us to recycle, but the truth is that recycling goes far beyond simply dropping unwanted paper into a bin. That type of recycling is of course important, but when you start investigating it, it is really just the tip of the iceberg. What can be recycled and where can you go from here? Recycling Clothes Remember that recycling means putting things back into use so that resources can be conserved. If you have clothes that don't fit anymore or if you have clothing that you simply no longer wear, consider taking them to a donation site instead of throwing them away. Clothing production requires a great deal of energy and natural resources, so putting some back in...
